Driving in sport mode all the time
Guys, have an S63 a few weeks now. Question, is it bad for the car if I keep it in sport mode all the time? Its awesome, but don't want to harm the car. No asked the dealer and the guy pretty much shrugged his shoulders no knowing and said it should be fine. Any guidance would be appreciated.

It's fine I've been driving my SL65 in S for over 40k no issues. Now if you drive in M hit the redline or over, or you put it in S but like to down shift to get into the powerband and it over revs then that might be bad, but if you let the car shift on its own while in S then your not doing much harm

Yeah don't worry so much I'm around 200 HP over stock at the crank and I dog it in S from 1st let it red line, downshift, missed shifts at a certain rpm, etc and my transmission hasn't been rebuilt for the power and I've been fine so should be ok

Nice! I'm all stock but can see myself already going down the path of wanting more. Its too much fun. Any recommendations for a newby/novice as an easy first step in upping the power?

ECU Tune, TCU tune if you can get it, I'm not sure on your model, I think your car might already have the updated 010 bosch pump that MB is using, and an upgraded Heat Exchanger. I know 63 owners like putting headers on too. That should be a good start

Question- when you do stuff like that, does it effect the warranty? Say something wild happens, the trans blows on its own, would they try not to cover it if modifications have been done?

If you have an MB warranty then your pretty limited on mods, with just the ECU/TCU tune, some people say dealers can't tell others say they can and flash it back to stock when they take it to the dealer.
If you have a 3rd party warranty then you have a little bit more of an option, basically anything that makes your car appear stock still most inspectors won't know the difference, and exhaust isn't covered by 3rd party warranties anyway so with some providers you can have a full custom exhaust and they wont care, but I heard others do.
Only reason I haven't done anything to my transmission is because the 65 AMG Transmission isn't like the 45/55/63 Amg trans, the 65 Trans can withhold up to 900 lbs of tq
