Got my car tuned & dyno by Eurocharged @ Powerhaus Performance

So after owning my S65 for about a year and a half, I've finally got her tuned on the dyno. And I'm glad I did!

I had a custom exhaust system put on by Mandrel Bending Solutions about 6 months ago and my butt dyno did not feel any significant power increase which I was not expecting much anyway. Although the shop did a very nice job I must say and I can hear the exhaust slightly now while driving the car. With the stock system and all the windows closed I feel like I'm driving a Tesla.

Fast forward to this past Friday at Powerhaus Performance for Eurocharged Tuning Day. I'm very happy with the results! The guys from Eurocharged and Powerhaus are all great guys! I highly recommend them.

And now for the results:
Stock run came in at 487 rwhp, 596 rwtq.

After the tune, she put down 530/698. This was on their "The Heartbreaker" Mustang Dyno.
The consensus for the conversion to dynojet #'s is about 12-15%
Using 12% (/.88) that translates to 602 rwhp, 793 rwtq for dynojet. However, I'm going to put her on a dynojet near my house and see what the actual #'s are in a couple of weeks.

I also had them put on TCU tune too while they're at it.

The difference after the tuned is like night and day! All I can say is "WOW!!!"

Nice numbers, I'm sure the car feels really different now. I got similar numbers 550 WHP and 684 WTQ. Get that tank to the track and see what it can do.

Thanks RaceHorse! It's almost like I did a major mod like cams, ported head, etc like back in the old days to get this kind of gain. It was very painless! I know my ET probably won't be much improvement since I'm very traction limited not having LSD or drag radials. I'm curious to see what my trap speed will be.

Thanks shardul!
Start with the LSD. It will make you smile even more. When you have the open rear and you shut off traction control on the dash it will allow the single wheel to spin so fast that traction control will again interfere thinking something is wrong or you are going to crash. After adding the LSD, the power gets distrubed to both wheels making them spin slower but accelerating faster. Also if traction control is off on the dash it is nearly impossible to spin the tires fast enough without getting sideways. In the end LSD equals almost no traction control interference. I hope that made sense.

I'm with you on the LSD. What I don't understand is why MB sold these cars with over 600 hp and 700 tq without mechanical LSD! They got at least $170K for each of these and it's not even an option to have mech LSD! I've had way cheaper cars with way less power that came with standard mech LSD.

As far as aftermarket, there's really not many choices and they're all very pricey. For less than $1000, I've could of got the best LSD for my previous cars. Now $1K doesn't even get me any LSD for this car. It's funny when I search for LSD online, some of the applications are really questionable. Those questionable cars wouldn't even have enough power to break one wheel loose let alone with a posi.

I looked into Wavetrac and they don't make one for S65. I'm not sure about Quaife and probably nobody has them in stock for the S65 in US.

I really like the OS Giken unit. It's a little pricey and after examining it, I can see why.

I got a Quaife over a year ago which ended up coming in from England. At the time nobody here was sure the part existed, but it does. You may want to check with Zax63, I think he included one on his recent build of his S65, so you could confirm the part number and get his impression as well.

Outstanding thread

I know that you are enjoying it now

As I am still looking for a W220 S65 AMG

Well - In the real world when I mention that

I am looking for this car I hear a lot of

Are you "blanking" stupid

It seems as though no one has anything positive

to say with regards to the W220 - S65 or not

Will be waiting for the update on

The Mothership

Thank-You

'94 SL600,'05 SL600,'06 S65,'07 E63,'14 E63S,'09SL600 all sold, ‘15 S65,‘18 E63S,'17 SL65, '17S65Cab
Nothing positive to say? We must be reading different postings. All the complaints are about the cost to repair things like coil packs, ABC system components, motor mounts and brake's. And all this is true. The good news is once replaced the replacement parts are improved and do not fail again(so far in my experience). I still own the S65 because it is so great to drive. I have done three key things to it. Installed a custom wood/leather steering wheel, custom tuned the engine and installed 255 front, 285 rear tires versus the stock 245 and 275's. The larger tires make a much greater difference than expected.
I could replace the car and I do go drive various new models. My wife came home with a new E63S but I still like the W220 S65 too much to buy something new. I do want to drive a new W222 S65 but have yet to see one at the dealer to try. I drove the S63.
My recommendation is find a well maintained S65 that has had all the usual failure items replaced and buy it. The W220 S65 is a great car.

Quadrobenz -

I was referring to people who are not on this forum

People I run into during the day who know very little

about MB / W220 / or even the S65 -

But if they have anything to say - they always say

that they have never heard anything good -

Here the posts are positive -

Your plan is the plan I have been following since

I started looking for the Mothership -

The search continues

Thank-You

There are not many S65's around. I hope you find the perfect one soon.
I used Eurocharged for the tunes on the S65 and one of the SL600's.
