This morning I started my car and started hearing a awful squeaky noise. I looked under the hood and noticed the snap ring that holds the bearing inside the supercharger pulley was missing, I can see the actual ball bearings, and there was dark grey grease oozing out.
My Questions:
1. where do I buy the snap ring? I found the bearings but they don't come with replacement rings.
2. Or what size snap ring do I need if I go through "Grainger" snap rings company?
3. How safe is it to drive less than a mile a day?
Please help I have searched and could not find any out there or the size specification to buy a GRAINGER brand snap ring. Also I have until March 31st to fix this issue because I drove 800 miles from FT Hood, TX to FT Benning, GA for school and have to report back.

you can resue the snap ring / c clip
you can drive for a couple of miles without any problem.

I am pretty sure I didn't see the c clip and I think it either broke or is missing. I just ordered the Nachi bearing. Still trying to find a snap ring or someone know what size snap ring I can order one from GRAINGER

If you have not already, I suggest removing the supercharger belt until you have replaced the bearing. The car will feel fine under low load. Just don't race anybody

Thanks I didn't even think about pulling the s/c belt. I havn't been driving it though anyway. I just recieved the bearing today but accidently ordered two of the bearings so if anyone needs one I would be glad to sell it. Or I will post the bearing for sell in the proper forum area.

A bunch of us have that same engine. I am on bearing number 3, but I just installed it last summer so should be good for a while. I think there would be a good chance you would find someone on the E55 forum interested in it though. Originally Posted by AMGARMYS55

By the way, if you start getting the mod bug, the E55 forum is the place to learn tons of stuff.

ExploreBe very careful when pressing the new bearing in and make sure pressure is only applied to the outer ring. Pressure on the inner race , seal or bearings will result in early failure.
