S55K AMG W220 or W221 S550
So The Time Has Finally Come To get Rid Of My N/A S55 AMG, and I'm literally stuck between the W221 S550 and The Supercharged model of my car. I've spent a lot of time around The W221 S550 and find it completely Elegant and a huge improvement in build quality, as well as much more of a boat(which I do and don't like). the Thought Of my S55 with another 140 Hp is just blowing my mind. I truly love the way my w220 s55 handles like an E class and is so maneuverable. I understand it's somewhat apples and oranges but as a super car and AMG enthusiast the 493 HP is very tempting, though the quality issues of the w220 and an 11 year old s class in general have me second guessing. I could possibly pull off An S63 but honestly would rather spend 15-20K and have plenty of cash for maintenance and repair cost. Don't plan on daily driving either car probably 5-6K miles a year tops. Appreciate your input

I've had two 220's and two 221's and the 221's are nice and definitely newer looking inside and out but that 220 just stuck with me.. that was the car I missed the most. I could have bought another 221 and if it was my daily driver I might have but for a fun weekend car I wanted something special.. the 550 is just a regular commuter car, the AMG is just special.. deserving of being that weekend car.. at least in my opinion!

Yea I get a very similar impression, it's just something about the lines and proportions of the w220 that give it such sleekness. And the AMG model is a such a sleeper for an 05 Mercedes S Class. It just feels so much lighter

I Would Also be Wiling To Consider A W220 S600 since the performance is so similar and the interior is noticeably nicer but I can't imagine that V12 Ages well and much prefer the AMG brakes and overall sportiness

I considered a 600/65 but my specialist turned me off of them. He said there are too many engine out repairs and the 55 is much cheaper.. I've had my car for a few months and it was near perfect when I bought it and just fixing all the little things (I'm OCD so my stuff has to be perfect) has cost me about 7-8k already! But you could go through my car and not find anything that doesn't work or isn't correct.. I could only imagine the cost on the 600/65.. I think it would be a great buy for someone who does their or work but as I've gotten older I've gotten lazy and decided I work hard enough on my regular job someone else can do the Mercedes!
