What's wrong with it for that price? Something is.. you don't just sell your car for less than half price for no reason.

I have no idea, but like the old saying, if it sounds too good to be true.......
the seller is not advertising it as a Designo interior, that was just me wondering.
But for now, have made an appointment to go see it. If it looks ok, inside, outside, under side, and drives ok, there is an independent MB repair shop not too far away from the owners house, that does pre purchase inspections, and has lots of experience with AMG Kompressor cars, will pay for one. If it then still checks out, will buy it. At $5K I cant get too backwards on it.

Well make sure you have it looked over VERY well. At any price you can get backwards.. my car ran and drove great and passed the inspection but I'm picky and like my stuff perfect and making my car perfect cost me about 8k and that's all wholesale prices.. for a car that looked and ran almost perfect when buying it.. I have gone through mine with a fine tooth comb and I'm at the point where I can't find anything else it needs.. but they can have a hundred things wrong with them and still seem great.

this is the Kelley Blue Book, for 117,000 miles, blue color, standard equipment, very good condition, sale to private party. Books for $6439
https://www.kbb.com/mercedes-benz/s-...tion=very-good
this is the NADA book value: $12,125 clean retail, which is dealer retail, so minus 25% for private party sale, so about $9,000
http://www.nadaguides.com/Cars/2003/...S55-AMG/Values
Edmunds True Market Value is: $7981 for clean condition.
https://www.edmunds.com/mercedes-ben...e-results.html
So, average them, I get $7,800 as an average

I bought a 2003 with 137,000 miles for 4,000 (asking price was 7,500), it did have its flaws but all of them were fixed by myself for around 1,000 dollars minus the worn interior.
When you pay 5,000 for a car you don't get all bent out of shape when you get a door ding or a rock hitting your car on the interstate. Paying 30,000 for a car adds to the stress factor and every little noise or vibration makes you think the car is going to blow up.
This way you can save to buy that 30,000 dollar car and have something to drive until the wheels fall off and use as a parts car.
