2011 S63 Advice & Insight

Newbie to Mercedes and to S63. I am taking delivery of a 2011 S63 with P30 package today. The car has 37K miles and the shop has just replaced oil and filter, as well as completed the 40K miles transmission flush. Original brake rotors but pads were replaced at 33K miles. Aside from the regular A & B maintenance, is there any issues I should watching out for?

Thank you for any advice and insights

My 2011 S63 just hit 71K miles and has been trouble free. The PO had it in the shop last Jan. and had the ECU & TCU flashed under CPO.
Three out of four wheels were bent and I had that fixed. If you are into music a small sub in the trunk rounds it out very well.
The only small problem I have is a groaning sound when hot and a little jerkiness from the MCT.
I am thinking engine/trans mounts and will have that checked at my indy next oil change.
The trans has been the same sine I bought it and one day I might bring it to the dealer and have an "adaptive" transmission reset.
Other than that it has been a perfect car.

I was less lucky with my 2013. I had several issues with it in the yr I owned it. Thankfully it was under warranty.

I've moved into the 222 and have had zero problems thus far.

I ended up getting a 4-years, 100K-miles exclusionary extended warranty with the vehicle. Would love to hear as what problems you encountered with your S63.

It was a bunch of minor things, and 1 big problem... 2 of my TPMS cracked, a suspension sensor/module went bad, window relay, some undercarriage panel came loose and was flopping. Stuff like that, but I averaged a trip/month. My rear diff went bad and some other module along with it. The diff had to come from Germany and MB had the car for 18 days.

I hope you have better luck with yours.

I'm thinking that by the time we get these cars most of the stuff has been ironed out by the PO. I cant say enough good about my car!

My 2012 S63 (also with P30) has been pretty trouble-free for the past two years that I've owned it. I recently replaced the original front rotors/pads at 55k miles, and one of the rear oxygen sensors failed a couple weeks ago. Bought a replacement Bosch sensor for $30 on Amazon, and all better now. Other than that, it's been a pretty get-in-and-go experience. When it comes time to get another car (around 80k miles), I'll probably get another S63.

I now have the S63 for about 16 months and put in about 12000 miles. Two months after purchase, the extended warranty company came back and wanted to downgrade the coverage because it is an older vehicle. I called the dealer where I purchased the extended warranty from and had it cancelled. That saved me a few thousand bucks.

Vehicle is reliable; took the car in the 10K routine maintenance a few months back and found no issues. Brakes/rotors still have 60% left. I did have to repair 2 crack rims --- must be the potholes.

The car gave me a heart attack last month when the check engine light came on with 8 different error codes. Apparently, the heater control valve was shorted and the entire electrical circuit went haywire. Ordered a replacement heater control valve but MB "upgraded" it; the new one came in and it is just a dumb bypass valve with no circuitry. Mechanic said MB over-engineered the system and decided later it was not needed --- and thus the replacement is just a dumb bypass valve. He recommended me to just put electrical tape over the existing one (as the default mode is open anyway) and call it the day. Cost of diagnostic and it turned out to be a cheap fix.

Overall, a reliable car and fun to drive.
