S65 coupe MY17 MY18 MY19 MY20 differences

Hello. I plan to buy the S65 coupe. Are there any big differences between the 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020 models?

There are no 2020 S65 coupes or cabriolets as far as I am aware. Last year for S65 Coupes/Cabriolets was 2019. 2018 and 2019 are the most difficult to find because they have the updated command electronics and the Panamericana grill.

Then I'm looking for 18,19. Thank you!

Of course main changes started with the facelift in 2018 (see other threads for the huge differences in engine, transmission, drivetrain, MCT-9, COMAND, etc, etc). In later years, only minor changes, of which 2019/20 has the "smart button" on the steering wheel as an option (so select drive mode, etc). Last model "year" (more quarter) is 2020/21, but has really limited driving assist functions, so avoid last quarter cars!

I think he was asking about the S65. Last year for the V12 in the coupe and cabriolet was 2019 as far as I know.

Indeed, the S65 stopped production earlier than the other models, so no MY20/21 limitations here

I was told that in 2019 MBZ only sold 35 S65 Coupes in the U.S. (I have one of them). Not sue how many were brought in during the 2018 Model year, but I'm guessing about the same as in 2019. Bottom line, they are rare. The 2018/2019 updated version is much improved over the earlier versions. There are many 2017 S65 coupes for sale. 1. Because they brought many more S65 coupes before the refresh compared to after the refresh. 2. Because they are less desirable. For the right price and condition, a 2017 S65 coupe could be a very nice car to own.

That's awesome! Congrats! Do you happen to have any info about how many 2019 S65 Cabriolets were sold?

Unfortunately I do not. I don't remember seeing that many 2019 S65 convertibles for sale at the time, but I wasn't paying that much attention to them either since I was looking for the coupe. My gut feeling is that there will be about the same number of convertibles as the coupes, maybe even less. But that's purely speculation on my part... If you find one and its decent, grab it, since they will be rare.

According to my dealer (Fort Lauderdale) there are a few 217 coupes and convertibles that were sold as MY20.

A while ago I heard a rumor that MBZ did build one 2020 S65 Coupe for a very special client who requested it. I was never able to confim it though. Other then that, I never once heard of, or saw any listings for a 2020 S65 coupe or convertible for sale. Maybe they do exist and I simply am not aware of them. But i'm doubtful since MBZ announced in late 2018 that 2019 would be the last year for the SL-65, S65 Coupe and S65 Convertible. I ordered mine brand new from the MBZ dealer on Feb 5th, 2019 and remember that I had to hurry and place my order since the ordering for these cars was due to close forever 4 days later on February 9th, 2019. Which makes me doubt what the dealer in Florida is claiming is correct. It would be interesting if the dealer can provide more info. I do know that MBZ did continue to sell the S65 sedan in 2020 (standard ones and the "final edition ones) and thereafter, the only cars still sold with the V12s are the Maybach S650 Sedans.

I have no reason to believe that the sales guy that I've been using for about 10 years would be wrong. He did say "very few" which would explain why they were never advertised.
Time will tell.
BTW, based on what I've seen for sale and on the road, the ratio of S- coupes to S-convertibles is probably closer to 4 to 1 than even.

I've only ever seen (1) S65 18/19 convertible; it was in a parking lot in Florida somewhere when I was visiting. Diamond white. Beautiful
