S63 AMG 2018 Hermes Module
Hello , I imported a 2018 S63 Cabriolet (Germany specs) to Dubai. To use Mercedes ME in the Middle East do I need to change the Hermes Module ?. I am able to see the car registered in my Mercedes ME profile but cannot use any of the services like the 3rd key, remote start…etc. Any ideas on how to make this work ?. I have a 2020 G63 bought from the local dealer and that also shows up in my profile and everything works fine.

I'm assuming the HERMES module these days is a "world phone", supporting all the frequency bands in different countries, however, it has to be provisioned for your local carrier with a proper data plan. It currently most likely has a German eSIM installed to work with whatever carrier MB uses in Germany and it won't roam in Dubai. Not sure if MB supports provisioning the HERMES module for a country other than the original country the vehicle was purchased in, but you would have to contact Mercedes and or your dealership to get the proper eSIM provisioned for your local carrier. I can tell you this, I took delivery of my US spec car in Germany. While it had the EU maps on it, the Mercedes me service weren't working. They only got activated once the car arrived in the US.

I think it should be working even in Dubai. Is your car authorised in Mercedes me? Normally the authorised dealer can do it, it can still be authorised to previous owner account... Visit them and ask them to pair your car with your account. Done in 5 minutes.

Thanks for the reply - I was able to register the car in my Mercedes ME profile. Unfortunately that’s where it ends, I am unable to use any of the services. One service I was really looking forward to using was the Digital Car key which means you only need your mobile phone to start the car. Unfortunately , none of the Mercedes Me services work yet. For the dealer to even look at the car is costing me Euros 3500 . Seems they want to charge this to ‘register’ the car in their system.

The car is paired with my Mercedes ME account and I can see the car in my profile , however none of the services work. I plan to visit the dealer to see if this can be done - early discussions tell me they will have to change the Hermes module and some of the services offered in Germany are not available in Dubai.

Can you sendthe picture of the home screen of mercedes me with your car? It seems to me that you have added your car (this can be done with VIN) but not authorized (that is only possible via videocall with authorizing with your ID) or over the authorized dealer. This is done in 5 mins and normally is free, cannot be more than 100 EUR even in Dubai.
I am sure this is the case.

So you have to visit dealer- it is not so easy to just add vin. Everyone could then do it:-) I think your vehicle is still bounded to previous owner’s Mercedes me and that is why it needs a dealer.
