Morning everyone! As many have gathered from my other thread, I recently purchased a 2015 S65. Upon delivery, I immediately sent it over to my shop (where all my cars basically live) to get some modifications done. I replaced the stock AMG wheels and tires with 22" HRE S204 wheels wrapped in Michelin P4S tires. In addition, we installed lowering links and new camber bolts, which lowered the car a little over an inch all-around. I had the car tinted and for a final touch on this round, the hood ornament was replaced with a flat badge for a more sleek look.
Here are a few pictures for you all to see. Please let me know what you think!
Very Brabus-like, that’s a compliment, depending on your opinion of Brabus.
More E63 but still very S.
Thank you! I appreciate it... and I am a fan of Brabus.

Thanks. This was essentially phase one as I'm definitely considering doing all the chrome in black. Only issue there is I would probably want to have the wheels refinished in black as well.

I'd leave the wheels as is, especially if you go the CF route.

Used 12C or 650S has to be the best used car bargain... they're more or less the same car save for the headlights and side air intake. Design has aged very well IMO, they don't look nearly as dated as some others from the same era. And don't be afraid of higher mileage cars, as any issues will have been sorted out and they tend to be more reliable with regular use. If you can swing it and don't mind something a little more raw, the 675LT is an even bigger bargain considering limited production.
Fluid changes can be done by just about any good mechanic, but few shops have access to the McLaren diagnostic tool/comptuer. And they are costly to repair outside of warranty, and any major service issue will require a trip to a dealer. So it is definitely best to buy from an authorized McLaren dealer after service and full inspection is performed. The extended warranty is expensive ~ $5k/year but worth considering particularly since the DCT, hydraulic pumps, etc are not considered repairable; a new gearbox runs about $30k installed

Heisenberg made some excellent points, but I would not buy the ESC (Extended Service Contract) through McLaren. I'll give you my perspective, based on ownership experience. Without a doubt, there is nothing comparable in this price range for a car in this category. It's a true supercar with extraordinary capabilities. My 12C is a 2012 with an almost $300k sticker. I have owned my car since it had less than 10k miles on it and I have put thousands of miles on it, with a lot of hard driving (tuned and exhaust). It's an exhilarating car to drive and is insanely fast. With that said, I can't stress this next statement enough. Find an aftermarket warranty (a reputable one) that will cover the 12C and make sure it has warranty. This will save you thousands of dollars when something goes wrong, which it will. With that being said, whatever ends up breaking will be something stupid and most likely not catastrophic, but it will be some absurdly expensive part from McLaren. My car is currently covered under a LaSalle warranty (they no longer cover the 12C) and is in need of probably $30k - $50k of warranty work. The best part about most of these warranty companies is that you can have your car repaired at an independent shop and not necessarily a McLaren dealership. There are plenty of owners who will tell you not to get a warranty and you can definitely get away without one, but I can promise you there is something that is leaking or not working correctly on their car, which will eventually present itself. I really do think it's an amazing car and is also a pretty important piece of McLaren's history, considering it's the first car they manufactured for production since the F1. I am just shocked that the values keep plummeting. I would advise you go for the 650S or the 675LT, if it's within the budget.

Agree with most of this! I would still go for the 650S as mentioned, due to the fact that they did correct some minor issues including but not limited to IRIS, updated heads, headlights that don't get moldy, etc. I would definitely advise you find a local, indy shop who has access to a McLaren diagnostic tool. There are some shops that can open the transmissions now and replace the rubber seal, which is usually the only issue, which according to McLaren requires replacement of the transmission.
Thank you both for the feedback on the Mc, your info and others have convinced me to pass on it.
My pleasure! Just wanted to make sure you honestly knew what you were getting into. I can still say I love my McLaren, but I will always make sure it has a warranty on it.

Thanks very much! I will get some more photos of the cars soon, as the Murcielago has been undergoing a full restoration for the past 9 months (almost done). For now, here is the 12C (next to my buddy's GT3) and an old shot of the Murcie.

Great car. I’m in the process of purchasing a 2015 65 as well to go along with my AMG GT. I’m interesting in who you are using for your extended warranty? My normal company won’t handle S65’s. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You're going to love it. Congrats in advance. I have not extended my warranty as of yet on the S65, but I still may do it. However, I have LaSalle on my McLaren, which has been super helpful. I bet there are a ton of options when it comes to warranty companies for the S65, but definitely think it through before you add one. Definitely read the fine print as most of these companies are in the business of not paying.
I assume you may have asked based on my answer to one of the members regarding my MP4-12C.
Certain cars like the McLaren I wouldn't own without a warranty, but more reliable cars like my S65 or Range Rover, I don't mind self insuring. The Murcielago is super analog being a manual and everything on the car is brand new so I wouldn't add one on there either, if it was even an option (it's probably too old).
