AMG Grille Badge Install for W222 Pre-Facelift S63

Hi friends,
I am new to this forum and am posting because I have run out of online resources for a minor cosmetic upgrade I have wanted. I am trying to install an AMG grille bade on my 2015 S63 (pre-facelift), but I am reluctant to go get robbed at the dealer for what seems like an easy install. However, I am having trouble figuring out how the badge attaches to the grille.

Here is a picture of what I want to do:

I was looking online on youtube at a video of a guy replacing his grille, where he showed the attachment mechanism, pictured below:

I bought this exact part, (part number 222-817-54-00). It came with the badge and those two metal rod-looking things. What I am failing to understand is how the badge is secured within the grille, as the screenshot from the video has the grille upside-down. How does the badge/metal rods not fall out? Is there double-sided tape, an adhesive, or some sort of mounting hardware that my grille does not have? I felt around inside my grill in that area and it is completely smooth with no pre-drilled holes or anything. I am open to drilling holes, but I do not know the correct diameter for the holes either. If anyone has any information regarding this install, it would be greatly appreciated. If all else fails I guess I could go find my local shop but I prefer to DIY. Thanks in advance!

Here's a picture of my car as a bonus

Those are rivets. You have to have a rivet gun to use the rivets. Typically you would like the hole for the rivets to just be a tad larger than the rivets. Just enough to slide the rivets into the hole. Not sure if any of this helps.

Thank you so much for the help! This makes sense and I will try it soon. I am mechanically illiterate, but I like taking time on the weekends to try to DIY stuff and learn more about working on my car(s). Time to google how rivets work!

I went to my local hardware store and bought a set of very small set of screws/nuts that fit and then used a small dab of blue Loctite to ensure they didn't vibrate loose. Much like you I didn't have a rivet gun nor did I have the rivets, so I made due with some basic hardware. You'll have to drill 2 small holes in the grill as well, but no biggie. (it's pre-marked for this, you'll see the 2 spots). It's all very easy and cost me less than $0.50.

A matte black grill would look good on your car too- just sayin

Thanks for the help! I agree about the matte black grille but I occasionally pick up clients and other guests with this car so I have to keep it looking fairly stock. The black grille sure would look mean, though! Maybe in the future when this car gets downgraded to daily duty and I replace it with a rolls or Maybach

I know this is an old thread, but S63 also didn't come with one. I ended going with the smaller AMG front grill badges and I think it turned out pretty good.

That doesn't look right. I thought the AMG badge is suppose to hang from the bottom of the horizontal bar, not sit on top of it.

Yeah, originally it is but my grill didn't come with one or the rivets to put one in. The only one that's going to notice the difference is me and I don't mind lol.
