2020 S63 AMG
New S63 Owner: Advice needed.

Hi everyone,
As the title states, I just purchased a new to me 2020 S63 sedan. While I previously have owned a few Mercedes' (most recently a 2015 CLS 550) this is my first Amg and this vehicle has a few options such as CCB and 3-D Surround Sound I am unfamiliar with. That being said, any suggestions on how to properly take care of, maintain, and drive this rocket ship and how it will differ from my previous MBs (CLS550 and S550). I owned the CLS for six years and 85k miles (and hope to have this vehicle for at least as long) and other than regularly scheduled maintenance and wear items (tires, pads, etc.) really had no problems. Also, are there any common issues I need to look out for and if so, what are the remedies and/or ways to prevent them?
It is a CPO so I have almost two years (23 months) of a factory warranty. Have read some advice on this board previously so I did get a VMI, as well as the service receipts. There has been limited repairs (the driver side visor and center console replaced) as well as a solid maintenance record. Vehicle was leased and serviced at the store I purchased it from, and while it is from the Midwest (St Louis area), the exterior, other than a decent amount of scuffing on the underside of the front lip appears to be in very good condition and has about 33,500 miles.
I'm certain everyone was super excited and nervous their first time owning such a vehicle and I appreciate the help.
Thank you,
Racetrack

That's a nice looking car for sure. Those CCB's should last to 100K miles if you don't rip on them too hard. With the miles the car already has there may be a few maintenance things coming up soon?

Congratulations!!! I love the color, it's a stealthy yet elegant. I just bought my 18 S63 4 months ago and I absolutely love it. I wasn't shopping for CCB but I REALLY wish I had them; my car produces extreme amounts of brake dust so I've already given up on the idea of clean wheels.

You did the right thing with getting the VMI. Some guys suggest changing the fluids, oil, brake, tranny, and maybe diff, at twice the manufacturer's suggested frequency. I plan to do it with oil and tranny fluid, not sure about diff and brake fluids.

2019 S63 4Matic+, 2018 E400 Cabrio, wardens car.
The biggest thing you will notice is the transmission is a little wonky. It is a wet clutch set up with no torque converter so it can feel a little odd at times but the shifts are very snappy. This transmission requires a fluid service every 30K so if that has not been done that would be the first thing to do. Other than that if the tires are good I would just enjoy it. I purchased my 2019 a few years ago when it had 9K miles on it and I am now at 30K with zero issues other than a few minor things like a button popping off on a window switch. These cars are also pretty easy to work on so if you want to do oil changes for example you can save a ton of money vs dealership. CCB brakes are nice, I could not find one with this option as it is very hard to find but they should last a long time with no dust. Have the pads checked though just to make sure. The other thing to check is to make sure all of the trunk bits are there for any potential flat tire on the side of the road. These cars do not come with run flat tires but they also do not come with a spare so that kit can be important if needed. Kit includes, Pump, Jack, hubcap socket if applicable, slime can for tire, gloves and lug bolt wrench. Basically everything you need to remove and temporarily fix a flat tire that has not been catastrophically damaged. If your car was CPO'd they should have checked all of the stuff I mentioned though. Some dealers think a CPO process is running it through the car wash though.

Congratulations OP. Finding one with CCB brakes is a BIG win. You won’t be replacing brake pads until 90,000 miles or longer.

Do some homework. The car came from dealer who has cared for it so they will have records. If transmission oil has not been done do it now.

Any other fluids that that are not fresh.... have them changed too. Be sure they do the front differential as too often that gets overlooked.

Enjoy the car. They are wonderful.

Report back with how fast she will go. They make a LOT more power in the cool months.

I’ve still not found a long enough stretch of abandoned road for that test in my AMG car.

Welcome to the club! I bought my 2020 S63 about a year ago (12/23), also CPO with about 38k miles at the time. I just crossed 50k. I have had ZERO issues with the car. I also bought prepaid maintenance services, which I feel was probably wise, since the 50k service included multiple fluid flushes and spark plugs. I don't have CCB but I wish I did. I am of the opinion that a well maintained, regularly driven CPO car is likely to be quite reliable. Did you get an extended warranty? Just keep up with the recommended service intervals. Unless you are driving at 90% always, I see no benefit to changing the oil every 2500 miles like some guys do. Just take it as scheduled. The car will let you know if it needs something. Prepare to replace tires once a year or more.

The main thing is this: drive it the way its meant to he driven. The benefit of buying used is the seal is broken. The dings and chips are already there. It's not about how it looks, it's about how it drives! My Cashmere Magno looks good from 20 feet, but up close you can see little paint chips and imperfections. Let them slide and enjoy in good health!

My 2019 S63 AMG that I purchased new in 2018 with European Delivery at the plant in Sindelfingen Germany is the best S class I have purchased in 30 years of buying new S Class cars!

Here are some pics of initial delivery at the Center of Excellence at the factory in Germany, delivery back in the US and recently in the sun. Love this car with 50k of trouble free miles. You will love this car!

2020 S63 AMG
First off, thank you everyone for the positive remarks and suggestions. I have had the car for a week now and every time I get behind the wheel it brings a smile to my face. I have always wanted to own an S series amg and while I am still learning about the car it has thus far more than lived up to my expectations. Regarding the suggestions about maintenance. The store I bought the car from did the 30,000-mile service (oil and filter change, transmission fluid flush and change, as well as an air filter change) but it didn't include the front differential transfer case fluid flush so that is item number one on the agenda. Item number two is that there is a message saying Lane Keeping Assist is inoperative. Also, as part of the service they replaced the rear tires but not the front ones, so I ended up replacing them to match the rears tread wear wise. Other than that, I should be good to go for the next six months or so. Fingers crossed of course.
Finally, Superpop, you are 100% correct, the transmission is a little different than the previous Mercedes's I have owned. Big thank you for the heads up, otherwise I would have been worried.
