New to me 2019 S63 CPO
I was looking for online listings of the E63S and was doing my normal filter by E-class, but noticed in the model options an S63 was showing up, so I added it. I had been looking at S560's as well. I found a 2019 S63 AMG with less than 13k miles on it as a CPO car. I was like, hmm. $17k cheaper than a 2021 E63S (Was also looking at a 2020 E63S for $67k) I was looking at that wasn't CPO, so I decided to submit an inquiry to the dealer, do a credit app, and give them my number. Got a call back the next day, got some pictures sent over, and decided to pull the trigger. Took the longest Uber of my life (2.5 hours) to get there and the car was immaculate. It looks brand new inside and out. I looked the car over front to back and cannot find a single flaw, scratch, chip, ding, or defect. It's clear the prior owner who traded it for a new Maybach took care of this thing. All serviced at the same dealer. Has two new Pilot sport 4S tires on it. I picked up an 8-year 60k mile, $250 deductible Fidelity platinum warranty. Negotiated it based on the online prices.
The car is very well optioned with the chauffer package, pre-safe rear seat package, warmth & comfort package, driver's assistance package, HUD, Magic Sky, Burmester 3D Surround Sound system, AMG night package, twin spoke forged wheels, exclusive trim package, night view assist plus, and many other options. Sticker was close to $195k and I paid $75k which I felt was a great deal based on everything I had seen lately.
I've put about 250 miles on it thus far, and it drives really nicely. I will say the transmission is pretty clunky. I am going to look to see if my higher end Autel scan tool can reset the transmission adaptations, as I think the car was driven very gently. Having Magic Sky and the Burmester 3D audio is awesome. Those are two great options I loved, one of which I could have gotten on the E63S, but finding them used was like a needle in a haystack.
The car is Selenite Grey Metallic with the Java Nappa Leather. I love the two-tone look, versus the all black interior that a lot of used S63's I saw had. It's classy and honestly even with the burl wood trim, it looks good. I'm not a wood fanboy by any means, but in this combo, it looks classy.
The only issue I may need to have checked out is there's a faint smell of coolant which I don't believe is normal. I cannot see any leaks and know this isn't highly abnormal.
One funny thing is I had my eye on a 2020 E63S on Carmax that was coming soon status. I rigged up a live page monitor to get an alert the second it was available. Waited a couple of weeks and nothing. The day after I got the S63, the dang thing alerted me and I could have gotten it. However, I think the S63 was the better deal, though I know the E63S would have been more fun.
Here's a few less than stellar pics. It has been raining out here in California a little bit, and I need to wash the car.

I can relate to the thrill of tracking down the perfect car, and it’s always a bit of a rollercoaster when you miss out on one you had your eye on—sounds like that 2020 E63S was a close call! The Selenite Grey Metallic with Java Nappa Leather sounds stunning, too.
As for the faint coolant smell and the clunky transmission, it might be worth getting those checked out just to be safe. For the transmission you may want to try to do a transmission adaption reset which you can do with Star or youcanic scanner. It’s always better to address minor issues before they turn into bigger headaches.
1. The overall comfort and it drives so nicely.
2. I wasn't expecting it, but the car does get some attention from all kinds of different people. I didn't buy it to be flashy, but I've had 2-3 compliments in the time I've owned it from complete strangers. Not used to that.
3. The smoothness. I have owned some nice cars, but nothing has ever been as smooth on this car. I am not talking about the ride, I'm talking about the engine and NVH. I have literally forgotten to keep shifting with the engine singing along at 4k RPM because you simply cannot tell. That is also a disadvantage in some cases, as I've always driven by feel/sensation/sound, versus having to look at the HUD/tach to see what the RPM is.
4. I love the Magic Sky roof. I think it's freakin cool.
5. The performance is really good. It's such a dual personality car and I often question what the point of it is. lol
6. I like the smell which I think is from the leather.
There are some things that I don't like:
1. There's a rattle coming from the center console at times. I need to chase it down, but I noticed the touch pad device is a bit loose.
2. The COMAND system is slow/clunky and not having a touchscreen infotainment system.
3. No quick way to access the 360 camera that I've figured out. I hit the camera button and then have to scroll to an option to get a camera display.
4. I think the exhaust is a bit too quiet, or at least it sounds quiet inside of the car.
5. Brake dust!!!!!!!!!
6. No wireless CarPlay, but I added a dongle into the center console that works pretty well.
7. The touch/scroll buttons on the steering wheel are not overly responsive.
I've got some Z26/Z23 pads here with wear sensors I'm going to install on Monday when I get a little free time. I'm also in contact with BenzNinja about signing up so I can get some mods done and some calibration updates applied to the car.
Lastly, I did add a color matched trunk spoiler to the car from JBSpeed. I ordered last weekend, it shipped this Monday from Taiwan, and I got it on Tuesday here in California. I couldn't have gotten something from Southern California here that fast, so props to them. The quality is great and the paint color matched perfectly. I don't have any real good pics yet but will get some when I get the car out of the garage later today or tomorrow.
You won't be disappointed. Beautiful car......Congrats!
