A quick query of autotrader would indicate that this car with a clean title and similar miles can be had for around 17K. Branded title can drop it down to around 15K. I would guess you will be into it for closer to 17K by the time you are done. Hope I am wrong.
I'm not having the $440 guy work on my car. He seemed like he was going to half *** my car. This isn't a civic I kindly suggested. He suggested I go to a body shop and have it done right, leading me to believe he has little faith in his own expertise.
All you worried that he is spending too much on a junker which wont be worth wen all said and done, watch him use this car and then sell it to a sucker for 20k....
That's a stretch considering you can get one with a clean title and same mileage for around 17-18K. If he is enjoying the project than maybe it is money well spent. Any S550 on the road drops in value every year like a dress on prom night anyway.
2015- Acura MDX. 2013- Ford Explorer Limited. 2011- Chevy Malibu 2011

Hope we could sell it for 20K that's our house downpayment right there!

what isn't happening? you're already at $15k+ and the quarter panels are still caved in. Even if you go back to MAACO to get the quarters fixed, you're looking at another grand at least. And it will most likely look terrible.
Not too bad at all. You're making progress and have been doing so all along. You can probably have everything completely done by the summer even with a few more hiccups.

Got a hiccup from the masters at MAACO. They got white overspray all over my car.
I wonder if they just don't care.
Fortunately, I learned about the miracle of clay bar.
Didn't clean the wheels because im going to take them off and entirely clean them along with the calipers. I could though as I have flower looking lug nuts that seem like they fit a 17mm socket but don't. Even my stock lug nut wrench doesn't work with them. What gives?

I looked all over, can't find it. I wonder if the 2nd owner(who had hardly serviced the vehicle) took it out of the car, after replacing his tires in 2015.
second owner didn't remove it from car. Funny thing is Mercedes doesn't supply it with the car from what i gather.
17mm should remove them with some finesse. But will also strip them to be honest.
Get one of these since you not in a rush to remove the wheels.

What gives is that the stock lug bolts have aluminum caps over the ends to make them look pretty. Over time, corrosion gets under the caps and they begin to swell, thus the lug wrenches don't fit over them properly. Eventually you'll have even more problems as the the caps will strip out and they will just spin over bolt head. You can find stock size solid lug bolts on Ebay that don't have those caps which will work perfectly.
Why would there be any over spray? I didn't think that you had any body work done to the car yet other than the frame pull.
Because MAACo. They are basically fast food joint for car repairs. I bet they do their $299 paints without a proper paint boot, just spray them in the shop.
Like I already posted, OP is better off buying spray cans and doing the work himself, instead of letting some 18 year old in maaco spray his car with cheapest materials available.
