Conductor plate, "Genuine" or reworked? 722.6
Purchased a conductor plate from a vendor on ebay who claims it's new,
directly from Mercedes, but there are pits in the glue, and
pits in the copper from where it appears previous contact was made.
The part is slimy with left over trans fluid or something used to clean it,
and the plastic has signs of heat stress the finish doesn't look new.
Didn't come in a mercedes box, and no stickers on the part or the bag.
Seeing as how they sell them for ~$135 and the MSRP from Mercedes is $300, I
seriously do wonder how they are getting them.
This vendor also offer lots of 20 plates for $2500.
Really?
The vendor claims absolutely the parts are new and is kindly offering to let me return them for
a 20% restocking fee + paying my own shipping. How nice of them.
Also the connector piece with Orings, sometimes called a
"Pilot bushing" by mercedes is also slimy with oil.
You can actually see it resting on the top of the piece little globules, and
it has a number that appears to have recently been stamped into the white part on the side.
Perhaps just new Orings thrown on there from an old part?
The Orings are black rubber.
I seem to remember them being white.
Any insight on this matter would be appreciated.
See photos.
Also the date code in the last picture, does the 04 designate a mfg date of 2004?
Even just comparing their part with a picture of one
more obviously from Mercedes in the box on ebay,
one does not see these pits in the glue for starters.

Called my local dealer, and got them to pull the part for me, and compare..
Really surprised but he said there were pits in the glue.
Such crappy workmanship....arrgh.
And they want over $400 for the part bwaaa haaa, even though the MSRP is
$300. Gotta love dealer markups.
I wonder if MB is rebuilding and selling as "new"?
Perhaps the ebay seller are buying directly from the rebuilders.
Also it appear that the Orings on 2035400253
are now black, 3rd generation.
Last time I did it I think they were white.

When I google reworked, refurbished, rebuilt conductor plate, I don't seem to find anything. Guess I'd better go to the dealer and look myself.
Seller swears it's new, direct from Mercedes. Why would Mercedes sell him all these conductor plates? I mean he even sells them in lots of 20 at what, MSRP is 300, so if he's getting them for 100 that's a
60% + discount. No one gets that.
Mercedes is always molding or stamping their logo and part number on the parts.
I have older electric plate in my garage and can compare the logo.
Crucial on plates is sensors "hinge" where your photo is out of focus.
I get a good deal on those from a local company that's worldwide. Sometimes the prices are crazy, so I believe they're buying in large lots. Also, there is a big mark-up. If you give me a part no., I can check for you.

So, I went to the dealer to have a look for myself.
NO oil on the parts. After all, why would a new part have tranny oil on it, unless it came out of a tranny?
Shiny new copper, and while the glue is not exactly perfect, it doesn't have deep holes.
So, I don't know where these guys are getting these parts,
was there a service bulletin and they're buying used ones from crooked dealers?
Or are they straight from China, and just made to look like mercedes "Genuine" parts.
Either way, they are going back, and I'm buying straight from the dealer,
or rather oediscountparts.com which is a dealer in NC (skyland auto) and I certainly will NOT
be paying them 20% for the privilege of returning this crap.
My total will be about $255 vs. $180, so not too bad.
Local dealer quoted $400 + one day over the phone and then yesterday told me it was $500 +.
Wow. Gotta love the stealers. List price is $300.
When I got home, I looked closely at the "new" "Genuine" conductor plate from the ebay seller, and saw this...see picture.
SOOOOOO obvious. You can actually see an indentation in the copper, and tarnish from where it was used previously.
Also you can actually SEE the oil in the photo.
Well, ebay is always buyer beware, and if it's too good to be true, it probably is.
For anyone ordering one in the future, if it's not in the factory box, it's probably used, reworked or fake. Fuggetaboutit!
Order from a dealer online, as listed above. $225 + 30 for the filter gasket and connector piece.

So where do they get them?
Mine had date code 3/15 on one side, and 2/15 on the other.
It had very obviously been used, covered in oil.
How are they getting these? I mean, what, use them a year and pull them?
It doesn't make sense, but I think my pics are pretty self explanatory.
It's been used. Counterfeit? Seller sent me a shipping label.
Bye bye crap parts..
I will post pics of new one when I get it.
PN is 1402701161
Mercedes does do factory reman transmission parts, I just installed a valve body/TCM in a 2014 CLA under warranty that was factory warranty. It came in a MB box and bagged up but it was covered in trans fluid, the box was wet even.

True, but then they do list them as rebuilt.
Example, starter for my 2002 C230 or front diff for ML350 2006,
both listed as rebuilt, so is water pump for C.
If it was listed as rebuilt, well it wasn't.
Btw, guys, sorry for the offtop, but do you replace the tranny oil pan bolts when working in there? The dealer tried to sell them to me saying they are use-once... Last time an indy reused them when doing the tranny flush.

Getting ready for a transmission fluid change on this end. My dealer also mentioned that they're one time use item, so I picked up 6 new bolts, at some $3 a piece. The bolts aren't in a critical load-bearing area, so they can probably be reused if desired.
Okay, thanks guys.
I also looked at WIS docs and seems like 722.9 calls for replacing the bolts because the torque is something like 4nm + 180degrees. Whereas for 722.6 the torque is 8nm straight.

Yeah, never replaced. No reason to.
But then I'm in Cali and no rust.
Saw a video with a guy with a W202 who was going through hell with rusted
pan bolts etc.

Care to share the info on this worldwide warehouse?
Can mere mortals purchase from here?
I purchased a brand new shiny supercharger some years ago for $600
off ebay, the guy said it came from some warehouse where they
sold off surplus or parts that were sold and returned.
It was pristine.
Installed it, sold my old one for $300, great preventative maint.
Where is this place, and how does one get things from them?
He had another SC that was a little corroded looking he let for like $300
but it was just cosmetic
Re; Conductor plates, The ones on ebay come in brown boxes with "MB" printed on a white sticker. But in the end, it had no box.
I want one in the grey Mercedes box with pn on it. No oil, and no
previous use.
Can you get these?

Parts returned and full refund received, especially after that last photo with the
imprints of the contacts on the copper.
Sadly I didn't get to leave feedback. Poor suckers.
New parts ordered, but the original problem has been resolved with a 'new'
shifter, PRND sensor issue. Picknpull'd for $30. Best price I could find used was $300
and new $540. MSRP over $700!
So, at this point, debating if I should do the conductor plate at all or just fluid and filter.
If it broke... but then I am at 232K miles and all original bits inside the trans.
2 prior full flushes with filter.
Thoughts?

late 2009 CLK 350 Coupe Elegance, '65 Jaguar S Type wires
Pan bolts for 722.9 require replacement as VVF says. 722.6 not so. All valve bodies are flow benched for calibration so some fluid is possible. I would expect them to be cleaned before packaging.

If I tell , I have to, well you know the rest!
It's called Worldpac. You have to have a business/ tax I'd number.
Been awhile since I got one
Sounds like you got your hands on a bad reproduction piece. I've seen the aftermarket ones, in fact I have one as a paperweight and it doesn't look bad but I won't bother selling those considering OE ones sell for $180ish and even comprehensive kits with fluid cost less than $300. On a part so critical to trans function, I'd go with the real deal.

It's easy to see how clean these are vs. the one I had.
Also the copper is so clean shiny and new, ah so pretty.
I ended up replacing the shifter, finally was able to get the correct one from picknpull, and my trans issues are over for now.
I did buy a filter gasket and fluid, and
honestly I have to wonder if I should mess with the conductor plate, since I'm not having any issues related to it.
