hello there, never did get anything man. I am so frustrated with this thing. The sunshade is stuck open and the motor makes terrible noise.

I think the only way that headliner is going to come out is by removing the windshield. As far as fasteners that hold it up, I really don't know as I've never removed one.

I don't think you need to do that, there has to be an easier way. Apparently this Pano roof problem is a common one amongst the W221

I watched them build S classes in Stuttgart and when they installed headliners they were putting them in through the windshield. I highly doubt you can fold those headliners and they would survive.
Maybe I'm miss understanding what you want to do. Do you just want to take it off enough so you can access the motor and sunroof assembly? if so then you would not have to remove the entire headliner.

Phatisfy, this is exactly what I'm looking for on my 07 E63, is literature like this available somewhere online or can you tell me where you found it for this gentleman? I'm trying to access my Sirius antenna to fix a suspected loose connection. Wherever that document came from I'd love to own the whole set!

Hey guys,
im currently working on my vehicle. I took the headliner off and replaced the sunroof motor (motor on the pasanger side). However, the issue is unresolved. The sunroof still wont close.
I noticed the "drilling type" noise after the sunshade closes, when holding the button went away after replacing the motor, but the sunroof still wont closed or move at all. Any suggestions please? thanks guys

Check to see if all electrical connections are refastened correctly. Note there are two motors as depicted in these ads

In addition, check f29 (25A) at rear SAM located behind right side trunk panel.

“Clack, Clack, Clack" Goes the Sunroof
I wanted to thank the member in post #19, but, with only two posts, he’s probably not here anymore...
The YouTube and suggestion to use lock washers gave me a solution to fix my pano-roof when it started to ratchet on the end of the closing cycle.
I followed the YouTube video instructions, and found, in my case, the bushing on the left-side motor had given out. Klaus apparently didn’t get the memo that the bushing should be made of rubber, and not black chewing-gum:
My bushing wasn't just worn out, it was gooey...
Just as shown in the YouTube video in post #19, the worn bushings were allowing the pinion on the motor to slip on the rack (using a rack and pinion description)… resulting in an observable up and down movement of the mounting bracket and motor. This movement allows the correct diagnosis as to which of the three (yes, three) motors, that work the pano-roof, are malfunctioning— Best I can surmise, the front left motor is for the glass; the right motor is for the front sun-shade; and, the right B-pillar motor is for the rear sun-shade...
And, modifying #19's quick fix of using a lock-washer, I added an O-ring and flat washer, without even removing the drive motor:
… my thought is, that an O-ring is better than a lock-washer, in case the pinion “needs” to slip... better to leave some wiggle room, and, hopefully, avoid stripping the gears…
Anyway, this worked for me, and I was relieved not to have to get into the very complex pano-roof mechanism. Not that this method is easy, at least, not on the virgin attempt. Took me over four hours, but I got hung up on getting the spring-loaded, break-away rear-view mirror back in the mounting bracket. You’ll see if you have to go there… All in all, very useful info. And, I thought I revive this aging post…. Good to know that, what at first-glance appears to be a potentially complicated, time-consuming and expensive fix, is actually a cheap, DIY... Just take your time, and follow the YouTube video...
Regards… Mark
