Radar detectors
Hi all, I have a couple radar detectors (escort max and valentine one) and both are powered by the cigarette charger to the Rj11 (telephone line) head. Since there are no cigarette lighter sockets in the front of the vehicle, and I don't want to hardwire the radar detector, anyone have any solutions? I've searched high and low and can't find any adaptors or wires from Rj11 to USB. Anyone have the same issue?

I was thinking about the same thing as I’m starting to look into detectors for when my my car makes it back to the states. Eventually I’ll hard wire it but for the trip from MD to CA will go with a temporary setup.
USB cables typically have a red and black wire in them that have the +5 V and ground on them. If you had a long enough USB cable you could cut off the end and strip it back and crimp on a RJ11 plug. You would just need to confirm which pins your RJ plug uses for power. You can get crimp pliers and plugs at Home Depot.
Or you could just get a phone extension cable for the RJ plug to run from the end of the power adapter pugged into the DC power plug at the back of the center console.

My S6 has no front lighter. I bought a long cable for my MAX on Amazon. Cheap and works great. Just use the socket in the rear of the console (not sure where it is on the AMG).

I have a socket on the rear of the console as well in the little ashtray compartment. I may have to just do this... get a long cable and run it under the passenger seat. Thanks!

Hey I know you are in BC, I highly recommend getting everything hardwired. You should also grab a laser jammer kit from ALP. Alex at kmph.ca is a great guy and resource and Clarence at bpg autosound in burnaby will set you up with the install. Combo the net radar and alp package and you are golden.
if you want to check out some really good radar/laser defense videos check out "vortexradar" on YouTube.

I don’t understand why you guys say there is not lighter on front of the car. There is one lighter when you open the console then you have the lighter there and the ashtray to the left.

The ash try in my car was a round thing that was plugged into the cup holder in the console. During the walk through, the factory guy showed me how to pull it out, which we did, and threw it in the trunk. No cig lighter plug there that I saw.

I guess the cars without nfc charging have a lighter plug. My car has a lighter plug. I’m tempted to get a good plug in radar detector. My cordless just does not have the sensitivity as a good plug in.

I don't understand why you don't want to hard wire? Are you using this in a rental car?
Hardwiring is the best solution. You hard wire it directly to the fuse box. Add a fuse to a blank slot. And you have the safest and most proper way to power an accessory. I would agree you shouldn't hardwire it to a tap in an existing circuit. But if you hard wire to the fuse box you are solid.
