MB S550 2007
2007 S550 Batterys Issue
Would it be “normal” for a reputable Mercedes only repair shop to replace the engine compartment batter with a MB Battery while at the same time changing out the Starter Battery in the rear of the sedan with an Interstate Battery? Charged $260 for the front battery, $196 for the starter or rear battery and $210 for installation. Using an Interstate Battery seems cheap but I’m no expert. Any thoughts?

I wouldn't worry too much about the Interstate battery which I think as good as a MB battery. I think it's harder to find non MB brand front battery and that's why they put that one in it.
However, for batteries and labor, I think they've charged you as much as a MB dealership, if not more.

The front battery in a 07 is the starter battery rear is the "system" battery.. Interstate is the producer/supplier of the Mercedes batteries except for the older cars, older maybach and the new lithium ion batteries.
The starter battery is readily available through aftermarket companies so not sure why they mixed.. The price is close to dealer prices but more like high side of a indy which you stated is a mb only indy so it looks like
2hrs labor at around 100 hr. which isnt crazy but would you want auto zone iunstalling batteries in that car.

You don't state what country you are located, but since it is an S550, which was marketed in the US, you can call 1-800-FOR-MERC and get roadside assistance to visit you and replace your batteries with no labor cost and generally less expensive than if they are purchased at the dealer parts counter. The Mercedes batteries are going to be AGM batteries and have a vent, where aftermarket batteries may not have the vent line. The vent line is to protect against gas buildup since many MB batteries are install in the interior compartment, in this case, the consumer battery.

I've got the starter battery thru roadside assistance last year and I've paid $190. I was able to qualify for the program only because my car was serviced at dealership within 12 months period. Mercedes now offers roadside assistance program only to the cars still with warranties left on them.
