ML350 2011 not recognizing key fob --says put in new battery 2025 3v which i've done and tested same so i need while in the car unlock doors to start car. they do unlock the doors externally if key not in pocket. dealer says $200 new key needed, i doubt it? blakeomlie@gmail.com m)8323504064

Mine pulled the same crap on me. I replaced the dead 2025 batteries in both fobs with 2032's. Worked great for 2-3 months, then I started getting the battery symbol on my fob only. I too could still use all the functions on my fob. Just change it out for another 2025 and all's good in the universe again.....for now.

Not sure if this related, but some info is better than nothing.
Somewhere I was reading about batteries for MBs and all were talking about Panasonics, maybe Panasonic as OEM battery must be only used and some of them are fakes.
I did buy mine from Amazon, second year no issues.

I don't believe I had to do this when I initially bought the truck, and both fobs were dead in the water for years. As well, I didn't have to do this when replacing the batteries again as per my previous post.

I have had bad experiences with no-name batteries bought at cheapo electronic shops. In this case though, I checked the battery voltage of my 2032 just last week before replacing it with a 2025 and the voltage was just over the rated voltage at 3.1v. So it makes no sense; battery voltage was fine, but the 3 month old battery had to be replaced and then I got rid of the "fob battery" message in the dash.

Do you have problems with keyless entry? It wouldn't detect my key fob but i was still able to unlock and lock by physically pushing my key fob buttons. I replaced my key fob battery and it was giving me trouble 3 weeks after. What I ended up doing was using a small spring to push down the battery in the key fob. It hasn't given me any trouble since (knock on wood), it's been about a month now on the same battery. Hope this helps.

Hi,

I have had the same problem with 1 slight difference. I replaced the batteries (from Wal-Mart) in both key fobs, and everything was fine for a while. After about 6 months I had to replace the battery ONLY in the spare key fob. The key fob I use every day still works fine. Go figure...
