Question I need assistance re-badging my E55

The previous owner de-badged my E55. I have the new badges in-hand from the dealership, but I need assistance placing them.

In the MB technical docs, there exist documents that describe (in-detail) where the badges should be place in reference to the edges of nearby body panels, like so:

Can someone help me find the doc for the W211 E55? I need placement guidance for:
  • Trunk Lid:
    • "E 55"
    • "/////AMG"
  • Fenders:
    • "V8 KOMPRESSOR"

The title of the doc will be something like, "Mounting Guideline for AMG Logo on trunk lid..."

Here is what the doc looks like for older generations:

I mean, I could freehand it. But if the specs exist (and they do), I'd like to use them 😄

Any help will be appreciated!

This place is a joke.
MB started using templates in the early 2000's.

Damn. And judging by those threads, I'm not the first person to have this problem, particularly with the fender badges.

Apparently someone made and posted the measurements 10 years ago...but now the image links are broken: https://mbworld.org/forums/w211-amg/...ml#post4795138

At this point, I'm rolling around with a yard stick and a pair of vernier calipers in my trunk and waiting for an E55 to pop up for sale nearby. There are two right now, one is a private seller and the other an hour away.

Here ya go, measured in cm/mm. A little tough to hold the phone and ruler at the same time, hope this helps!

This has the perfect amount of detail on the "V8 KOMPRESSOR" badges. Those were the ones that I was worried about the most.

OK. I'm done. Big thanks to @E55Greasemonkey . His measurements made it all work.

I used vernier calipers, tailor's measuring tape, painter's tape, and a pen in the following way:

I set the caliper to the dimension required, then applied tape on the left and right of where the "AMG" badge would sit ("E 55" badge procedure was the same). I then measured the vertical height from the bottom edge of the seam indicated.

I then made a horizontal line with tape. This will be the floor of the badge:

I then measured horizontally along the "floor" from the edge of the trunk lid the desired distance:

Before, I was worried that I'd have to place each letter individually (ensuring that I'd screw up), but thanks to a guy at a local body shop, I learned this trick:
Take a piece of clear packing tape and tape across the front of the badge (pressing enough to ensure it sticks), then flip it over and remove the backing (which peels off easily). THIS maintains relative spacing!!

Then line up the bottom on the "floor" and the corner letter on the mark indicated:

Press the letters firmly to get them to stick, then carefully remove the packing tape from the front (using your finger or a tool to ensure that the letters stay put on the car). It helps to peel from a corner of each letter so not much pulling force is applied all at once.

Voila!

A similar technique was employed for the fender badges:

All done, it took me maybe an hour or more. The trunk badges were pretty quick, but the fender badges were a bit tricky with all of the curves involved and I was using a rigid yard stick at the time. When I switched to the tailor's/dressmaker's measuring tape, the pace picked up. So, if I chose to use that from the beginning, it would have taken less than an hour.

Nice work! Definitely need badges so these kids in the 5.0's know what to Google after you humble them! I just educated one in a convertible 5.0 with a temp tag lol. I love the Kompressor with a "K" badge too.

They've come down. 3 years ago when I got my car they were $200 each, and the $50 ebay alternatives would fall off within months.

That's funny. Just watch out for the 2018+ 5.0s with the 10 speed automatic. C&D tested that one to a 12.1 sec @ 118.8 mph. Not going to be showing that your tail lights in a stock E55.

Yep the 10 speed is no joke! My E55 (not stock) traps around 123mph, so I'm good if there's enough space. The one I humbled was a manual. I did however have a 10 speed trailing me around town and was evenly matched at those lower speed limits. I'd love to see what our cars could do with more gears.....at least the 7 speed.

As an additional reference point, the online MB dealer I use is selling the fender badges for $54.80. Some local MB dealerships will honor online prices.
