Did you buy the rim & tire protection?
I am going into the dealer soon to finalize a purchase on a 2024 S580. I know finance is going to push a bunch of maintenance plans and things, but the one I was possibly considering is the rim and tire protection plan. Did you guys get it? And if so, did you find it useful and was MB infact responsive to you when you needed help? My co-worker said he bought it, but he is cancelling it soon because he got a flat and it took 4 days for them to call them back.. By then he had already went to the local tire shop to fix it. But I have also read the opposite where people say its worth the money. I live in Orange County, CA. Roads are generally smooth, but I personally have curbed some rims but never a full blow out. But my current daily driver is an E350 on 18's. This new S Class will be on 20's.
PS- they are quoting me $3900 for a 5 year plan. Any feedback would be great. Thank you in advance.

rim and tire protection
def not worth it. I purchased it along with the windshield protection ..ultimately needed both and had a horrible experience dealing with 3rd party scamming companies, even though policy was sold by an MB finance.

Seems really expensive and total dealer profit. Unless you've experienced wheel and tire damage previously, or drive regularly on badly maintained roads, it seems unnecessary. Most tire shops offer road hazard insurance for less than $100/tire (usually proportional to tire cost), and a damaged wheel can be repaired or replaced for less than $4K. I'd bank the money for 5 years.

thank you all. I purchased my 2024 SS80 3 days ago. I didn’t get the tire and rim insurance. But would love to know more about the AAA policy. I did get the 20 in black glass rims bc I was concerned about the 21s and the threads I’ve read this far on blow outs.

I usually get the wheel and tire protection along with windshield protection if the offer it. I only have 2k miles on mine and got a rock chip which quickly spread. Got a new windshield completely covered and installed at the dealership. Paid $800 for the windshield warranty and it covered the $2.8k windshield replacement.

I bought 2024 S580 2 weeks ago and only purchased the extended warranty 7yrs -100k. I have the chrome rims with black sides. I am thinking of replacing the rims to all chrome. Any suggestions?

Hard to know when anecdotal ends and something real can be afoot. Having said that, I went through 2 windshields in the 18 months I had my car. It also seemed like there were more reports of the same on the forums than I would normally expect. But, who knows? Were it me I'd at least make sure I knew what my out-of-pocket was going to be on my comp, if I didn't have a glass specific coverage.
