2024 GLE 63 Recall

Hey all,

I had a cel come on with 4K miles, service advisor said there was a recall and probably had to do with that, he confirmed it did.

got the car back, the exhaust pops are half as much and sometimes not at all anymore in sport plus/race

also the emotion start is completely gone (not big deal) but leads me to my question, has anyone noticed this/these issues? Was it a reflash that caused this?

will ask advisor tomorrow for more info and report back cause a lot of the character was taken out/toned down which really bothers me

A few weeks ago I got a notification in MBUX that there was a recall involving ECU reprogramming that should be done at next service visit, I was only briefly able to read part of the entire message before it disappeared, but it involved engine startup, i think something about prolonged high revs, and emissions compliance.

damn that sucks I wish I saw this message, I asked the advisor for this specific reason not to do any updates but he said for the recall they had to (and that was part of my cel he was saying)

I had no choice :/

it has definitely altered a lot of the overrun and character and I hate being robbed of that

Yep, common complaint after the recall. It was a software update (reflash) for the fuel system recall. They detuned the cold start and exhaust burbles for emissions or safety. Lots of owners are upset. Push your dealer, sometimes they can revert it if you complain enough about the lost performance character.

Did they sell you a car with a feature that they then removed, without compensation or notice?

Did they sell you a car with illegal emissions compliance, in a fraudulent manner? After Mercedes committed this fraud, did they offer compensation to make you whole?

These stories are what keep me away from new models, even if I can afford it. I would be extremely pissed as an owner, enough to work on a class action..

I just picked up a brand new 2024 GLE63s this October that was on my Dealer's lot locally. They kept it for a full day before delivery to perform "software updates". I noticed from 10 miles on the odo that the exhaust was kind of quiet.

Me thinks they performed the update....

I have noticed that there are quite a few 2024 GLE 63 S Lemon Buybacks on the market being sold by Mercedes Dealerships.

its on the carfax if they attach it, it will say lemon law manufacturer buyback

hoffman estates usually sells lemon buyback cars a lot I’ve noticed!!

I had and still have 2020 gle 350 I bought new
no issues at all with 40k miles now

my 2017 s cabriolet just went in for service and turned 50k miles, no issues. Spec’d and bought this new

My 24 gle 63 has been fine other than the cel and recall, the car was sitting for 8 months while I was in NY and it was in Florida, so I thought cel could’ve been from sitting. (Gas/battery)

my amg GTS and GTR were solid other than battery voltage on GTR which was fixed

Maybe I’ve just gotten lucky! Lol

id venture to say majority of cars coming out of benz are solid , however, with high production and increasing electronics lots of stuff can and will happen !

I’m still trying to figure out getting the tune reversed I’ll report back. I’ve escalated this

Same issue with Lamborghini, a software update on any model Huracans going back to 2016 made the exhaust noticeably quieter. Big thread about it on the Lambo forum. I've been lucky enough to avoid it because of hearing about the consternation of others. I hope they do for you but I'd be surprised if MB returns your ECU back to prior. Lamborghini was once it's done it's done. Manufacturers aren't pushing this. It's all coming from regulations.

As I said on the Lambo forum. I wouldn't be surprised one day that they'll tell me we can't work on or service your car until this software update is done. It's probably going to come down to that but I hope not. Manufacturer will be forced by regulations to do this at the dealer level. Go jump off a bridge and leave people alone.

Not looking hopeful for my gle and the car world as a whole haha

i will say this, I just had my Huracan evo spyder in for its 5th year service and my service advisor is amazing, he never updated my ecu or made me, and the 20’s were the loudest to come out (like my old perf)

lambo palm beach is the best and they are fam to me so I’m good, plus no more factory warranty anyway.
5 years never an issue *knock on wood* sto was solid too… I do agree with you leave us alone !!! 🤣

im iLLSE on lambo forums 👍🏽🙏🏽

Where are you located?

Yikes, as long as it doesn't become a recall might be able to avoid it. I hate it when you go to the dealership, you tell them to not wash your car but they ignore it anyways, not my SA but the lot attendant I guess. My SA even put a piece of paper as a reminder yet it still comes back machine washed with scratches which is annoying. To prevent them from updating your car without permission, perhaps the best way to use an OBD lock or something so they can't plug things in without your permission.

I recently read about "loud start" going away in another forum and having to do with a reflash of ECU. UGH!! Sounds like this may be across the board update for several (or all?) of more recent AMG cars though I hope that's not the case! I love how my G63 sounds.

hey which forum?

any update from anyone else?
the car also just did an update automatically and I feel got quieter ? I don’t know what’s going on and if it’s just more mental from the initial recall ecu but I’m hating the car and lost 50 plus k on my heavy build from new to just dump it

Not sure what to do

After the recall I hate my AMG! I had read this thread prior and feared the worst. Got my first oil change couple weeks ago at 2,701 miles and the recall was performed. No more Emotion Start. The Performance Exhaust is gone! No more exhaust burble. Very hard to get pops and bangs on downshifts and acceleration. Throttle response seems slower. With full acceleration I mainly here loud engine sounds and very little exhaust noise. My AMG is no longer a Beast!

Yea Mercedes sucks for this big time

im going to probably sell my car

I go response from Benz NA and they were willing to help the my dealer, however, my dealer said they’ll need the car for days to diagnose. What is there to diagnose? It’s software they did

every time I bring it to the dealer they mess something up
so I just said forget it

Mine is a 2024 with a build date of February 2024. I’ve got emotion start and everything seems to be working just fine and I’ll be 100% sure to tell my service advisor not to do any kind of update.

MBZ dealer called me after I gave a 1-star review and complained about losing performance and features. They asked me to bring it back in to see if they can adjust the settings. They have had it since Friday. Last week I got a 2nd CEL.

I've had 2 CEL since buying the car. Neither are related to Recall:

CEL May 2025 - 1,664 miles:

CEL Apr 2026 - 2,939 miles:
