200 Miles Per Tank: What the Hell??
I know when I got the V12 that is a massive powerful motor which has a thirst for gas. But 200 miles a tank is purely ridiculous. It currently has 37,000 miles and I'm thinking that something might be going on with my MAF Sensor. I doubt it is my upgraded filters because they were not re-oiled nor do I plan to re-oil them. (After 50K just swap them and avoid any possible sensor hassle at all.) But I read before that an MAF can cause poor gas mileage and reduced performance. So ask the forum two things.
V12 Guys, what kind of mileage are you getting per tank?
Anyone, what can possibly cause poor mileage?
Thank you.

...never had more than 250 out of a tank... except on one long trip I got near 300. Thats at about 145 US dollars a tankfull!

I get around 260-270 avg per tank, but recently i have had to cool the jets till my reckless passes over...
but if driven hard i get 250 per tank
and your v12 will probably suck more gas than my v8

I monitored the first 12 tanks of gas I bought.
A good blend of highway driving, acceleration runs and city driving.
The average statistics over those 12 tank fulls for my M113 (3 valves per cylinder V8) 1999 R129:
Average consumption = 20.4 miles per UK gallon (= 17.0 miles per US gallon. = 13.8 liters per 100 km).
Extending this consumption to the full 17.6 UK gallons (21.1 US gallons = 80 liters) including the reserve = 360 miles (579 km) on a complete (full to bone dry)tank.
This data was all collected before my O2 Sensor and fuel filter were replaced under regular maintenance.
The lowest mileage tank full I had would have been 333 miles (540 km).
So as a habit I head for the gas station at anything over 310 miles on a tank (500 km). The reserve light usually has not come on yet.

SL500 2001 Formula 1 Edition;
500 SL gets usually between 250 and 300 miles between fill-ups. Drive it 75% highway, usually between 80 and 90 mph, with short bursts up to 100 to 110 when I need to get around someone. When I can't go that fast, I am usually weaving in and out of traffic to TRY to go that fast on Los Angeles freeways (I rarely drive my baby during stop and go freeway traffic, except sometimes when I take her to work on Fridays.) Oh, and I don't need any advice to slow down, okay?
I'm thinking you're gonna get worse between fill-ups with your V12.

I spend most of my time on the motorway and I get around 325 - 350 to a tank, but I have replaced the OEM filter intakes!?!

I drove my 600 down from Atlanta less than a month ago. Set it on cruise averaging between 80-90 mph the whole way. I'm a chick, so I stopped to "fuel" a bunch of times. Was so excited to get the car that I didn't sleep the night before I flew out, so drank way too much coffee to keep myself up on the long drive....
Anyways, started with a full tank and refilled to full upon arrival. Dividing the gallons purchased on the receipts by the miles, I averaged 19.78 mpg on the trip, on cruise, averaging 80-90. That was much better than I thought I would do.
Most of my daily driving is in town, and that sucks up the gas pretty fast. It's amazing to see the fuel needle move that quickly! But it's like I told my secretary when she cringed at the mention of a V12.....if I'm lucky enough to be driving an SL600 EVERY DAY, gas consumption is not really a consideration.
