03 Porsche 911 C4S Vs. 03 MB CL55 AMG
Hello
As a proud R129 owner, I like to hear from others' poinion regarding:
As a true MB enthusiast I am having a tough call to step out of MB and trying something new! I am planning to get a preowned 03 CL55 or 03 911 C4S. As much I love MB, I must respect the look and performance of Porsche. What are your thoughts??

this sounds like what I just went thru ..
I wanted to by either a 996TT or a CL55 but taking my considering my old age and the need to drag golf clubs around and the fact that the CL55 is such a cool car I went for the CL..
but that TT shure looks good
and so does the wide body C4S

Hmmm . . . aren't these two completely different types of cars?? A big coupe vs. a pure sports car? Doesn't it kind of depend on what you need?
But this reminds me . . . should I buy a Peterbuilt or a one of those new Bentlys?

As I see, you already have 3 MBs. So it is time to try something new. As much as I love the R129, you cannot go wrong with a 911 either.

Have you considered the older 993 4s or turbo (1998). I know the car is a little old but their value hold pretty well (They cost about the same as the 996 (1999-2005). They are the last air cool engine (real porsche as some call it) and the wide rear fender is just nice.

Buy 996TT instead of C4S. Engine from 996TT is derived from 911GT1 race car. The C4S along with all naturally aspirated cars (all 996 and 986) suffers from RMS (Rear Main Seal) leaks. Get 2002 or newer 996TT and you'll be glad you did. I've had many MBs and Porsches. I you like to drive, no MB can even come close to P-car. If you prefers comfort/luxury/cruiser MB is the way to go. Also MB service from my experience is better than Porsche.
