What size of wheels everyone has on their SL?

It appears that upgrading the OEM wheels are the most favorite mod that SL owners do to their cars. I am wondering what size wheels you all use? I purchased a set of 19" staggered and should arrive later in the week. For tires, I ordered 235/30/19 front and 265/30/19 rear.

For those who has 19", how is the ride and do you need to have the speedo re-calibrated?

I ride anywhere from 16inch to 20inch........ about your 19inch....you using the wrong size tires.......... the right size tires would be 245/35/19 front 275/30/19 or 285/30/19 rear...... the ride on the 19inch is bad if there a lot of pothole on the road........ wrong size tires would have your speedo read wrong.. and your ride will be bad too due to the wrong sizes tires...so you better change your tires.....good luck.....

My typo. My front is 235/35/19.

So, if my setup is 235/35/19 F and 265/30/19 R. Will that work?

I have 18's and run 245F with 275R. How wide are the rims themselves? Mine are 8.5F and 9.5R.

If you mess about with different tyre profiles, you will find the cruise control will not work. A simple test is -mark a front and rear tyre at same place (eg 90 degrees), roll car forward a short distance, if tyre marks do not line up, then generally cruise control will not work.

The hight will remain the same correct?

Thanks,
Steve

yes........ the overall diameter will remain the same........
keep in mind to get the same diameter...... you would have to run tires size show here.....

225/55/16 all around
235/45/17 front 265/40/17 rear
245/40/18 front 275/35/18 rear or 285/35/18 rear (will be off dameter by 2mm but wider no problem)
245/35/19 front 275/30/19 rear or 285/30/19 rear (will be off dameter by 2mm but wider no problem)
245/35/20 front 275/30/20 (will be off dameter by about 10mm that a problem but people do it anyways)

hope this help good luck.......

btw, im running a 265/35R18 rear & 225/40R18 front in my SLK and the cruise control works fine... also, i only have speedo error of 1-3mph tops...

I love the look of 19's; I don't like the ride. I had AMG Monobloc's and liked them, but I like to see some rotor and caliper. I opted to go with 18X8.5 in front and 18X9.5 in the rear as shown below.

I'm knew to the forums, so I won't post the link to where I bought these rims, but I'll share if anyone is interested.

If money is no object. Then 20s plus the correct lowering height and tire size, plus shocks and springs will make quite a ride. I have no ride problems with this set up. It did cost a bunch though

Rims 5,800
Tires 1,700
Shocks springs plus instal 800
