Two tone exterior color after 1995?
Any one if know the 500SL came in the two tone color scheme that were popular in the earlier 90's? I'm trying to find a 1996-98 500SL with a two tone color scheme (e.g., black and grey below; silver and darker silver below; champagne and darker tan below) and not having any luck.

You probably wont find such a thing as 95 was the end of the two tone era for the SL. Why two tone?

Darn. So no two tone after '95. I just love the two tone color, but want to avoid '93-'95s because of the wire harness issues.

Really?!? I assumed that the law (requires use of biodegradable materials as I understand it) that would effect the wire harnesses in the 300/320s would also be applicable for the 500s. Maybe I'll have to do more research....

i would do some more research.....also the 500 is a much better buy on the current R129 market. the extra hp and tq is really great if you are at all intrested in going fast, not just quick.

Here's a two tone 2000 SL600 that was up on eBay. But these are few and far between since it was a custom paint job.

Yes sir, 1997 SL500 with about 110K at the time of replacement. Basically the car started to throw trouble codes that were not really happening, and overall running like ****. I did get a look at the old harness, it was difficult to believe that it was ever up to par for mercedes, but there you go.
