2000-2001 sl600 amg?
located a 2000 sl600 sport pkg & is labeled AMG also. the car has amg wheels and what looks like aero pkg also. my question is did amg make a 2000 sl600 all the right options seem there and its a v12, however i cant seem to find any referances to it. im thinking on buying it either way its a awsome car. and what performance wise can you get from these cars? can you upgrade motor,cpu,exhaust? and what kind of power is achievable???
im new to the fourm and hopefully soon to be a new owner? trying to get some research in before purchase.

the car is black with black interior, seems to be in great condition. it has 90k on it and comes with both tops. even though its not a amg it does have the amg 18inch wheel package. its a sport edition, he will take 14 for it. is that reasonable?

I belive all 2001 & 2002 SL600's had "AMG" areo packages + could be ordered with AMG wheels but NO AMG badges from the factory.

Wow ok I found out it is a 2001 and has the amg aero package and wheels and the back looks just like your photo with the 600sl and the amg badge. So if this is a 1 in 200 how can I verify the car. By vin? Any special #s anywhere? Im really interested in finding out now. I think I might have found a gem.

i got the vin#s need to know how to track this down. if it is one im buying it as soon as i can match the #s, and im doing it quietly because i dont think they know what they got. IF....it is..

Bet the dealer(s) put the AMG badges on or posers as members of this board call them. My car came from a MB dealer in AZ who got it from a MB dealer in CA. I was told this is how they got it. Looks like the number is 198 total made. no special VIN. My car was serviced at the dealer from day one. A service history is a must! This $14,000 car can break you so fast...

If the car has an AMG badge it does not mean that it has had any performance changes made to the engine or the suspension. All MY 01-02 came with what used to be called the AMG SL1 Sport package like my 2000 SL came with. It wasn't until I had new Bilstein HD struts/shocks and H&R Springs that my suspension was greatly improved because my original suspension came unchanged with the AMG aerodynamic package.
SL1 AMG-Sport Package:
AMG designed sculpted lower body aerodynamic enhancements, to include:
Front apron with two separate mesh air intake tow hook covers
Contoured rear apron
Sculpted side skirts with Sport emblem pre 2001
Halogen H3 55W 3100K 12V projector-beam front foglamps
8.5"x18" front and 9.5"x18" rear, staggered-width AMG I 5-spoke monoblock alloy wheels.
Front 25 mm offset & Rear 23 mm offset, with a 5x112 mm bolt pattern.
245/40ZR18 front and 275/35ZR18 rear, max performance summer tires and a rolled wheel arch modification for the AMG wheels.
