Convertible top hydraulic cylinders

The main lift cylinder and front lock cylinders on my 1993 300Sl reached a point of leaking that demanded repair. I used the step by step instructions on Top Hydraulics to remove them, and was surprised how easy the job was. I sent the parts in on a Thursday, and the following Wednesday I received them back. What a quick turnaround. The next morning I installed them, and was a cruising with the top down. I thought this was going to be a bear of a job, but thanks to the easy instructions, and super quick turnaround, the job turned out much easier than I thought. Thanks Top Hydraulics, i hope I don't need your services again, but if I do, I will certainly remember you.

Total cost was around$267.00, $12.00 to ship them from Florida to Oregon. Repair and return shipping together was $230.00. Cost of the hydraulic fluid was around $25.00. Total time spent for removal and reinstall was around 7 hours. I did it in my garage with no special tools.

Not bad at all. My 2001 SL500 has two hydraulic locks on top of windshield, and two rams behind under the seats.
I have already purchased the top locks but need the rams. I wonder if you could provide name of the rebuilder, or the Phone number.

www.tophydraulicsinc.com. It is a very easy to navigate site. They are located in Florence, Oregon. Phone number is 541-902-3214. Each cylinder will cost $55.00 plus $10.00 shipping.

Hi! I just had 3 cylinders rebuilt in my '95 SL500. Total cost was $300. That included removal and installation and fluid. I didn't have to do anything but drive it there. I doubt I would be able to remove a cylinder myself. Can't see myself doing it actually. I sure do with I could, however, since I would like to have all of the remaining ones rebuilt. Thanks for the info! I've been reading Klaus's posts with Top Hydraulics. He's totally awesome.

Glad to hear you had such a good experience!
