Control Arms

First time posting and looking for recommendations on whose control arms I should use to replace the ones on my 2002 SL500. Just now getting into the world of MB and SLs so also looking for you guys to educate me. Does 48K miles sound about right to replace the original control arms? Thanks.

I would do it cause low miles is good but time kills the bushings, they come with bushings and ball joints I have done all three of my SL's with Febi parts.

Don't forget the lower wheel carrier bushing (outboard bushing on the spring link that connects to the wheel hub carrier).

Can't go wrong with Febi or Lemforder.

Thanks

Thanks for the input. I am sure I will be back with more questions as I get things sorted out with my new to me purchase.

As an fyi- I am doing this job on my 2002 as well and ordering Mercedes parts directly from the dealer-- they say the right side control arm is discontinued and once available stock is depleted there will be no replacements.

I would imagine cause they don't want to stock over 20 yr old parts. Febi and Lemfoder make the suspension parts for Mercedes. so save yourself a ton of cash. Plenty of sellers out there with OEM parts

I buy mostly from autohausAZ and Parts Container. Choose OEM brands and price as guide

Are you doing the work yourself? Let me know how the job goes as I'll probably be doing mine soon as well

Searched for clues and found this thread. So when is it a good time to change it (mechanics said the same thing, control arm can't be rebuilt)? Bushing have some cracking but still look intact, tie rods have a little vertical play. Steering is fine no vibration no clunking.

Do you mind sharing a product link? I’m about to replace my control arms and would like to make sure I cover this as well while I’m down there.

thanks!
