Hey guys,

I am usually in the S class section, but I just picked up a 2003 SL 500 this morning and I think the S will be on the auction block soon. I love it.

I wondered about the phone needed... Anyone know the model needed? Is it a certain MB only version or just like a GSM V60 or something?

Thanks for the help, I'm sure I'll be back with some more bone head questions in the next week or so.

You will need a special Mercedes Benz phone because it has the special software.

It is a V60 phone. Different ones for different providers.

You are screwed. Most carriers are phasing out the V60 TDMA phone. Cingular will not accept that phone in my area. There was once a V60 GSM phone, but Cingular is not accepting that phone either. Verizon is still accepting the V60S CDMA phone. Verizon is no longer charging for roaming.

I got the V60S CDMA MB phone and it works great in my 2004 SL 500.

So if you want to use a V600 GSM phone, you will have to contact the companies below.

I picked up my SL last week and the Verizon phone supplied by MB is no longer the V60 but is now the V710. A very nice Motorola phone. I do not know if a generic Verizon V710 will work however.

The 2003 and 2004 SLs have only two options in phones. The V60I and V60S. The V60I is not accepted in my area.

You you want to use a different Motoral phone, you will need to contact www.mikbox.com. His kit will allow you to use most Motoral phones.

If you want to use the MHI phones you will need to contact www.mbenznl.com. There kits will allow you to use other brands besides Motoral.

I am happy with the phone. Good performance in and out of the car. I would choose the phone again and I do not hesitate to recommend it.
