Airscarf

Any educated guesses on why MB did not put the Airscarf feature on the SL's? Seems like any convertable would benefit from it, so why limit it to the SLK? Since an SL500 is twice the price of an SLK 350, I would think they could include this feature?

Strange,
Prolix

AIRSCARF neck level heating allows you to keep roof of your roadster down in cooler temperatures. A soothing stream of heated air to your neck, head and shoulders helps take the bite out of chilly top-down conditions. With individual 3-stage temperature controls and airflow that automatically adjusts to your driving speed, you'll never want to put your roof up.

SLK 230
I agree...

Yes i find it remarkable that in some instances the new SLK is technologically more advanced than the SL - surely this can't be good is the SL is supposed to be the ultimate roadster? The SL needs to catch up and fast...

facelifted...

Well you would hope - but if it is to be facelifted in 2008 then airscarf will be very old technology by then...no doubt it will be copied by renault, peugeot, porsche, jaguar etc etc....isn't the SL supposed to be the leader in the field of roadsters? That's the only thing that worries me...

SL55 AMG
The cars leap-frog each other - the original SLK introduced the folding hard top for the first time which was not a cue to do the same on the SL of the time. The new SL introduced new features which the others cars did not have; the SL was one of the later cars to get the new DVD-based COMAND.

Each new model has features which are a snap-shot of what's currently available. It would be good to think we'll get airscarf in the future but I wouldn't hold your breath...

Talking Airscarf

On my SL600, when driving in the cold with the top down, I could heat the seats, turn on the car heater and turn on the vent heater and be very comfortable. Well, everything was comfortable except a small spot on the top of my head, but I refuse to wear a hat! Anyway, it worked for me! We are considering the new SLK and the airscarf and heated seats will be mandatory.
