Seriously looking at a 2003 SL500 which is the bright red color with stone interior. Don't see this color very often so was curious to what others think of this color.

Of course if I like it that is all that matters, but just curious...

I have to say I don't really associate red with an SL...Ferrari yes. Lambo yes...but an SL I am not too fond of red myself i have to say.

There was one at Mars Red at a dealer near me a couple of months ago. Surprisingly very sharp. I saw a Firemist Red on the way home from the gym today. Nice, but not as sharp as the Mars in my opinion.

I placed an order yesterday for a 2006 mars red sl500 with stone interior. I am taking european delivery on Sept 19th. I saw a red sl500 at a dealer a few months ago and knew it was the color combo I wanted immediately. To each his own, but I think the red looks great.

I owned an 2004 Mars Red SL500. I really wanted this color. I had previously owned tectite and black and wanted something more outstanding. After owning it for about six months, I grew tired of it. It made me seem more aggressive than I wanted to appear. I went back to black.

I like yellow on a SL. For some reason, I never did like Mercedes' mars red. I do like red on the Corvettes.

But that is why they invented 31 flavors, because everyone has their own taste.

Ronal's. These pictures are too bright, but the wheels do look quite nice. If you go to the RonalUSA website, they have a better picture of my car with the wheels. Best news is they are not that expensive. I think I paid around $2200 for all four.

red is really nice and rare, i must say when i saw it in the brochure i was in awe...this july i will be aiming for a white one though (i wont be ordering just locating one at local dealers)

Keep in mind that the 03 still had the Magma Red, not Mars Red - there is a subtle difference.

You'll see my (I mean my wife's car), an '05 SL600 Mars Red over Stone. When we saw it we both immediately loved it as did everbody who saw it. It's a head turner that screams for attention and constantly gets compliments. If I listened to the nay-sayers I'd be driving the ubiquitous silver or black to be safe. For us, Mars Red has been an excellent choice that you won't see everywhere. Get what you love.

I just do not like 2004 and newer Mercedes Mars red because it looks orange in the sunlight. But I do like the red that was posted in this thread.

My car is magma red and I like it a lot, this red is very good and receive a lot of acomplishment.

I agree, I think the Magma has a lot more orange in it than the Mars, which is a deeper, richer shade of red.

or if it's your own money and you may have to get out. If so, resale suicide. Reds are tough on any SL, from 107 to 230. Most Benz customers just aren't made that way, in America at least. Personally, I like Mars, but I'm in the minority.

my car is 11 years old and the red is fine!! its also kept out side. ive heard that "SLs are not a red car" but everywhere i go i get complements on it.

Mars Red is beautiful....especially with Berry Red interior and chrome wheels. Here is a pic posted on this board a few weeks back by a gentleman named Ahmed from the Middle East.

I have an '03 Magma Red SL and still love it. It doesn't show the fine scratch marks as much as the darker colors. I still get a lot of compliments to this day.
