In the 25 years that I have been buying Mercedes I have never seen such a poor job on the turnover to new models from one year to another.

It always happens on the day of release which is today and you always get new pictures and the options are always properly realigned as opposed to the way they have done it.

It am not sure if it is only temporary but it now appears that Mercedes Information Technology people are now becoming as incompetent as the people that build the cars.

What a pathetic company.

LovinSL600, I love reading your posts, they are always hilarious and true to the point.

That being said, MBUSA needs to get their act together, because I have a sad feeling the next few cars we're getting, won't have a star on them.

OK, I am going to give them the benefit of the doubt. The Website is completely different since I looked an hour ago. New pictures showed up. By the way I don't see the clear colored tail lights.

The options are still messed up but they may be working on them.

I am going to take back my previous post and not come to any conclusions and render any opinions until the day is done. I think it is reasonable that they have a day to do this. Not as it has been done in the past but I can see maybe they need a day.

More to follow...but for now the IT people are still OK.

They shouldn't need a day. They should have it ready on a dev server first, and when it's time transfer it over to the pub server.

I agree, just trying to find a way to try to be nice to them but you and I both know they can set up an off-line site to put all the new model stuff in and then at the appropiate time just drop the information in and poof...you are done.

You would think a company like that would be more prepared which they obviously are not.

Trying to be nice because I don't want to negatively effect the experiences of others.

I agree with you LovinSL. One can be patient sometimes. The only changes in 06 is Siruis and Tire Monitoring as standard. Brilliant Silver is out and Iridium Silver is in.

There are over 70 2005 SL500 in stock at dealers in the Bay Area. I rather go with 05 Brilliant Silver. How much $$ below invoice can one negotiate ?

I understand, you're absolutley right.

puranm, I'm going to copy paste from another post I just recently made

Send a fax to every dealer in the state with the options you want exactly, and tell them they have 72 hours to fax you back the best price they can give you.

You should then shop from there, that way you don't have to ask, 'is this the best price? or could we do better'

Good luck! And keep us updated!

It would really be just that simple. It's what we do (of course there are still errors anyway). Interesting side not. my color Capri blue is an extra cost option for the SL500 in the brochure, so there won't be many of those...yeah! Only color that is so for the 500.

I used to see many more high end MBs on the studio lots here in LA in recent years compared to now. Today many of those parking spaces are filled with BMWs, Ferraris, Bentleys, etc. The quality issues have pissed off too many of us in Hollywood, so we shop elsewhere and suggest to our friends and associates to do the same. It's a shame. A smarter company would work toward improving their quality issues in such an influential market.

Nah...not possible. Did you see those spy pictures that everyone swore by?

Let this be a lesson learned to all about those spy pictures. More often than not they are bull.

Thanks for the clarification.

TPMS is standard...but I'm not sure if it will teel you the actual pressure, or just if there is a problem with a warning light...will let you know for sure as soon as i do.

Anytime MB makes a model change the prior year gets a freebie or freebies, such as the 06 S class having "free sport packages" . The SL gets free Sirius, and the 600 gets some more "standard" features. Plus introducing the revised body without a motor change is pointless. MB wants the new motor to debut in the S class then find its way into the other models.
Personally I am glad.. I know for sure when to dump my car so I can order the 07....

Free my behind. I just visited the MB web site and looked at a build your own. The base price for a SL55 including transportation for 2006 is $125,775 vs $122,220. Free upgrades are costing only $3,555 more. Looking at other models for 2006 the TPS is $400, the ventilated seats are $1,250 and the Sirius radio is $400. Let' see that is $2,050 in free accessories for a price increase of $3,555. Anybody want to buy a bridge in Brooklyn.
