Interior Wood Mis Match

Why is it that most SL500/600's have mismatching wood on the interior. The color is the same for the door, shifter, center console, and wheels, but the steering wheel appears to be a slightly darker shade. This was most present on the 2003 models, but it is still very visible (at least to me) till today.

Can anyone elaborate.

A example, its not as obvious here.

Mine seems to match.

My wood seems to match, I wouldn't be to happy with an unmatched look.

Your interior looks perfect, I have noticed this more on 2003 models SL500's with dark wood interiors.

Very nice SL600 BTW, it looks great.

I love the light interior on dark exterior!

Thanks

Thanks for your comments on my car. I cannot believe the difference in your pictures, it is quite obvious.

It is like that on most charcoal interiors. The steering wheel is also darker than the other woods in my 2004 SL500. I wonder if the steering wheel is darker on the 2005 and 2006 models.

It would tick my off, they never had a problem on the previous SL or the S class or CL, which offerd wood wheels.

I have also noticed that on the darker wood, the steering wheel is darker than the rest of the other wood.

While it does happen, it too would bug me. I would ask your dealer to change it out.

I know the purpose of the picture was to illustrate the wheel wood vs console wood etc but the color combo of the interior is just, well....yuck!

He just wanted to be different. Not my cup off tea. It reminds me of the post that someone mention we were dual and boring because most of the SLs are sliver and black.

I know what you mean. I hope I did not offend him, if so, I'm sorry.

mine is an 05, and the steering wheel is much darker. this, though, is consistant with al charcoal interiors i have seen. not just on the sl. my wife's first choice was stone, with white exterior, and i seems the chestnut wood seems always to be a close match. and by the way, you would have to PAY me 40 grand to destroy the looks of my sl like the red on on e-bay.

I have an 04 SL 600 with charcoal interior. My steering wheel is also much darker. I've never pursued getting it changed out, but I still notice the difference.

I have the X11 charcoal interior, but the wheel and remainder of the wood match in tone to my eye. Wheel does not seem appreciably darker on my 06 SL600.
