Alabaster White

Although Alabaster White is a common color of MB in Japan, I hardly see it on your photos, owned cars or subjects. Is there white SL owner in your country ? How do you think about it.

I attached sample photo.

I don't think white is nearly as popular in the USA for high end automobiles as it is in Asia. No idea why.

White is simple, elegant, smooth, and bold.

In the US, we tend to like more flarey 'look at me' colors like torch red, brilliant silver, and the slightly common mysterious black.

or at least thats my view..

when my wife first told me she wanted an sl, itwas a 500, white with stone interior. i thought it was a beautiful combo. in 500's, you can find that combo all day long. in a 600, very rare. in a 55 or 65 nonexistant. after some research here and with other sources, there was no way i was gonna buy a 100,000 500.. i almost had a used (8000 MI.) SL600. THE DEAL FELL THROUGH. THEN i almost had a deal on a 65. white with ash and light grey int. that deal fell through. i knew i was going to have to deal with crap for a while when i bought the black stallion, but it has turned out as i had hoped it would. shehas fallen in love with the car, and has progressively become more and moe possesive of it.

Thanks everyone.
I was surprised with one point. In our country, silver is not a 'look at me' color rather than white so there are many white expensive cars such as lexas, infinity, MB.
Different countries have different foods, right ?

Just wax your wheels. A little wheel cleaner and a hose will be all that you need for a while. I have the same wheels. Nice!

Thanks Scruffyone-san. Can the normal body wax be used ? Or do you have special wax for wheels ? I will try it. It has been tough work for me.

There are products out there called "wheel wax", and you could use the body wax also. You can also swap out your brake pads for Porterfield pads that are dustless. I plan on switching soon.

Thanks. I will try it. BTW, MB is providing us 3 year free maintenance service called "Mercedes Care". If we change some parts or system to non-MB one, MB does not provide this maintenance service with free. Is it same with your country ? In past days, I could not install security system such as Clifford due to this restriction.

Thank you for your comment. So you never see the white Mercedes in your state, right ? Do you have any idea for reason ?
There are so many white Mercedes here including CL, SL, S, E, C. Especially, AMG users tend to choose Alabaster White because white is one of "look at me" color in Japan. I don't know it is cultural thing or not.

I believe that white is more popular in Japan is because white is the official racing color of Japan, no? Also, silver is the official racing color of Germany, right? Just some guesses..

I didn't know of Germany as a whole.
The thing is that Mercedes has racing silver because in some race they grinded the paint off because it was too much weight. The remainder body was silver.

Oh ! In that meaning, the color of Japanese national flag is based on white and red which is same color with Toyota racing team.

Which color did the Mercedes team use before paint off ? Anyway, it is the reason why Mercedes uses silver as a main color of their cars.
