Seat Belt Light Flashing

? for you guys.

In my 06 SL600 the passenger seat is detecting my 14 pound dog and the seat belt light flashes in the instrument cluster and the dinging sound is heard in the car. What is strange is that in my 05 SL600 the sound was not heard and him being in the seat did not matter, and actually if a passenger was riding and didn't have their belt on it would not be heard either.

Is their anyway to adjust the weight tolerance in the seat for the sensor.

In another part of the forum the mentioned being able to do this on another car, the dealer said it is not possible to do, but that may be their brush off answer.

I would never let any sort of dog ride in my SL - their claws would surely scratch the leather. Easiest solution is to get a spare safety belt buckle that you fasten when your mutt is riding with you. Alternatively, put it in the trunk and hold it down with one of those baggage nets. Just follow the yowling when you want to find your dawg again.

I just fasten the belt first. My dog weighs in at 98# and a HAve a pad and towel he sits on to ride so he can't scratch the seats. At 14# I suspect yours isn't in too much danger of scratching anything

Your right!

Your right he doesn't damage a thing. You would never even know he has been in there, except for a little hair which doesn't really show on the stone interior. Now if the interior was black, it would be a different story, hair absolutely everywhere.

my australian shepard goes everywhere with me. if i go for a ride and don't take her, it breaks her heart. but she never rides in the sl. no matter how i've tried, the ls430 has suffered additional wear and tear. mostly in the back seat. it is true, however, my 14 year old daughter has probably been responsible for more damage than the dog.

The ding ding can be disabled via STAR and the weight adjusted as well. My 05 E class had the same feature and it was VERY annoying. If I set my briefcase on the passenger sit it would ding ding away.

Some dealers wont turn it off....

hmm....

More than likely some dealers don't know how to turn it off or make adjustments to it.

Why so bitter BlueSl? Dogs must not like you.

My dog is a part of the family, he can ride where he damn well pleases..

My dog is cleaner than most people. While traveling recently I toook him with me and one night when stopping at a hotel, the clerk was all concerned about what he was going to do or leave in the room. I told him I was more concerned with what the dog or I would possibly get from being in the room.

After I saw what the maid looked like who was cleaning down the hall from my room, I got even more concerned.
