Revving in neutral noise on 05 SL

My 05 R230, when pushing the accelerator pedal down in neutral, has a whining "whooshing" air sound that follows the dropping RPM levels immediately after the engine noise dies down. My other cars have had this as well to a slighter degree so it seems, but is this normal on a SL? It has less than 2000 miles I might add.

Thanks

I've never really payed attention, but that should be normal. As long as you aren't noticing anything else.. keep us posted.

Good....I had complained in an early post about the trans hitting in second and really hitting when slowing to a stop, but within 500 miles it seemed to fix itself.

One thing that is interesting is the pulling factor. I bought the car with 15 miles....gave it back on day to for a secondary battery swap. The dealer put on 20 miles or so; when I got it back and it pulled to the right. Then I threw the 20's on I had ordered and now have to explain to the dealer that it was doing this before the rim addition. I actually went in the day before I got rims and talked to a few advisors to explain my problem...so I'll keep you guys posted.

Miles appeared on it when you brought it in for a battery swap?? And it pulled to the right afterwards. Boy, that dosent sound good. In the back of my mind I cant help but thing some new kid there decided to take it for a rough spin. Hope it gets figured out/fixed for you! Also, is it possibly an alignment problem?

They also did some work on the trans and kept the car over night. Almost 20 miles is way too much in my opinion while the service guy said they had to test it. This is a dealer that had the best price in LA on this car, but the service shop was a bad experience unless they really needed 20 miles to "test".
I think I'm going to take my car for service to Southbay now. Anyone have any experience there?

Also I hate the way it pulls to the right....it drives me nuts.

My CLK used to pull to the right, then after about 5000 miles it kinda stopped doing it (or maybe I got used to it).

As for the 7 speed tranny, it is very jerky from 1st to 2nd and 2nd to 1st. When I have other people in my car (especially girls), I put it in Comfort Mode so that they won't feel the harshness of 1st gear.

I find myself doing the same thing.

Also do you guys feel any difference between ABC sport and regular mode....Regular seems to have the same harshness on bumps and completely sucks for quick turning.

Even before my 20's, my ride quality seemed rather rough....at least compared to my buddy's new CLS500 sport on 20's.....its like night and day...I know I know.... his is a sedan and all and is based on the E. Still its like 2 times smoother....feels almost the same as my Mom's E on 18's, in my opinion.

The SL is way more fun as a daily driver though...he's alway asking to roll it
