Hey Guys,

I have a 2004 SL55 AMG. I want to change the headlight bulb to a 8000K iceberg blue bulb. Do you guys know if I can just swap out the bulbs easily or do I have to remove the bumper? Is it easy to get in the headlight unit or do I have to remove the bumper, crack open the airtight headlight, etc. Do any of you guys have experience changing the fog light bulbs as well? I'm thinking the foglight bulbs can be swapped out easily from underneath the bumper without removing the entire bumper. thanks in advance.

Just open the hood. The driver bulb is easy to change but the passenger one is very hard. There is some gadget for the SBC in the way and it's almost impossible to get around. It took me an hour to change a bulb today (and that was after loosening up the headlight assembly).

Thread revive..

I just installed 6000k bulbs into my SL600.
Man the passenger side was a b****Tch to reach to....its very difficult but not impossible, I spent like 2 hours...while it took 20 minutes to do it on my old C32..

I didnt loosen the headlamps to do it.

You really have to get the angle right to stick you hands behind the cover...
That SBC pump is just so big and gets in the way.

I did it kneeling down with my face looking down at the passenger front wheel...then my arms would be able to bend just right to stick into that little path into the headlamp cover...you really have to work your way around into that tight spot...once in there, it is very painful to twist the ring to hold onto the bulb (not to mention it is very hard to find that correct spot to click in when you are arms are in this position...)

You dont need to take the cap out when installing, actually...you really cant take it out... theres really no room for it to fall down anywhere or get out...

Taking the OEM bulb out was tricky, as it is very easy to drop when you are pulling your hand out...be very careful..
