Question 2007 550 (Mirror/Park Assist on Menu)

For those of you who already have your 2007 SL 550, would you please reply as to whether you have the "mirror adjustment" on your convenience menu? If it is there, you will see it as you scroll through the various functions on the wheel. Maybe, I'm not the only one who did not receive this function in my 2007. Unfortunately for me, I really need it for parallel parking,

Thanks for any input you can provide.

ldenise90,

I haven't seen it on mine either. The passenger side mirror should tilt down once you put the vehicle in reverse(just make sure that the passenger side mirror tab is depressed). After you put it in Drive, the pass. mirror should tilt back up at least that is what mine does.

Check my Sig
I haven't seen that option on my function display. The mirror does tilt down as Meegle said.

Look in your owner's manual. There is a description on how to set the mirror in order for it to go down when reverse is engaged.

There is not a setting in the convenience menu.

Meegle, Itzkirb, thanks so much for checking your 2007 SL 550s. Glad to here that your function is working correctly. My mirror will not automatically do this with the passenger button depressed and the car in reverse. Unfortunately, there is no mention of how to program this in the 2007 SL 550 manual.

In my distronic thread someone mentioned that early production year models might remove certain functions......but you guys have it so.....there may be something wrong with mine.

Thanks again for the quick reply.

ldenise90,

I would take it down to your dealer and have the rep show you exactly what to do. Perhaps you may have a faulty sensor but hopefully they can help you out.

mirror adjustment in reverse gear

Ditto on my 2003- you have to put the car in reverse , hold brake, press passenger side mirror button, adjust it DOWN to where you want it when in reverse, press driver side button, again press passenger side button, and shift into park.
The passenger side buttom MUST remain depressed for the reverse function to work.
To test, then shift into reverse (might have to wait a second or two) and voila!

Zimmersci,
Thank so much for your response. I'm going to try this and hope that it sets the passenger mirror. I was beginning to think I was the only one who did not get the feature.

mine too

I also have the same problem. I just bought sl550 and the mirror does not tilt down when a car is in reverse. It is so inconvenient since i got used to this feature so much on my previous car. I tried pressing/depressing both mirror buttons.

Boston-SLtics,
Thanks for the info...sorry you do not have the feature either. I was beginning to think I was the only one that didn't get the feature. I wish they could program it back into the system.

Two other members on the forum have new 2007 SL 550s and they both have the feature. I guess it is just our bad luck. What color and features did you choose?

Enterprise rent-a-car!!!
Lots of features such as "mirror park" and easy entry are being taking of the cars for two reasons.
First is cost.
second is most people either dont use it or dont know how it works correctly so keep bringing cars in for warranty complaints when there is no fault.
MB are removing about 150 features like this starting about a year ago.
What makes it worse is in a situation where for instance you have an 03 or 04 S,SL,CL etc, that need an instrument cluster changed, you fix the original problem and now the car comes back with no, "gas remaining" feature, or no "easy entry" or no "mirror park" functions, and it worked fine before, and we have no idea until we program the cluster what will and wont work, and once it is programed, it is "locked" to the vehicle.
I had an 2000 S500 that lost the automatic light feature. MB have lost the plot big time.

totally incorrect.
to set the position of the park feature on any model so equiped, do the following.
1. select right mirror adjustment.
2. adjust mirror to desired position.
3. push "m" button on drivers door seat memory switch.
4. within 10 seconds of pushing "m", push mirror "down" on adjustment switch.
if you did it right the mirror will not move when you push the down switch.
the position is now set, and you can return the mirror to normal position.
to test. start engine and select reverse. 8 out of 10 owners i have met see incapable of performing this function. Hopfully people on this site are in the 20% range

i tried this procedure and it didn't work for me. in step 4, the mirror did not move down when i pushed the down switch as indicated. i guess i'm in that 20% range.

I recently had the dealer activate my chirp confirmation during lock/unlock and now my pass mirror doesn't go down anymore with the trans in reverse.

I tried the same procedure and got the same results you did

The cluster menu is gone since it is not really needed. The on/off is now part of the mirror switch.

No need to be so effite. We are all friends here- 100% of us; not 20%. Incidentally, "hopefully" has an "e" after the "p"

Meegle,
I called the main MB number and was told that the 2007 SL 550 did not come with the "mirror park assist." Of course I mentioned that certain owners had it on their 2007 SL 550s (you and Itzkirb) but they could not explain why.

That is so strange that they used programming for your "chirp" that could take the "mirror assist" away. We know that you had it !!!!

Damage mentioned the features are "locked into the car" but it makes me wonder if they can re-program the scheme to include it just like they took yours away.

Damage, if I have mis-stated your point-----I appologize (I just really want to find a way to include this feature).

I was pretty bummed out that the mirror park assist feature no longer worked on the car. It was a decent perk to have and we were just getting acclimated.
Hopefully they can reactivate this function without taking the chirp confirmation away...I will keep you posted on my next dealer visit.

Just got our car back from the dealer after dropping it off to have the park/mirror assist re-activated.
Our receipt states that feature has been eliminated with the 07 models per shop foreman....funny thing is that it worked absolutely fine prior to my previous visit

Unfortunately, it was after hours so the foreman was long gone

Meegle,
Thanks for letting us know. So sorry they did not put the park/mirror assist capability back.
