SL/R230: What is best tire size for staggered 20" rim setup?
up front im running 245/35/20 and in the rear the shop recommended 275/30/20.
The front looks great, the back has a little bit of a bigger gap than what id like but very minor. I was told going 35 on the rear id either have to go 40 up front or settle for a higher rear end.
Pictures will be posted soon-

Also, I heard 315 and 325 would be too wide on a 20x10 rim. I had heard 295.....now I am hearing 275 as well.

The perfect size tires for your car would be:
Front: 255/30-20
Rear: 295/25-20
These sizes will keep your overall diameter perfect and equal to stock so your speedometer will be accurate. 295 are the largest diameter tire you can use on a 10" rear. You can go to a 305 only if you go to a 10.5" - 11" rear. The 25 series tires are a bit thin and potholes may be an issue. Be careful. I just checked with a tire calculator and if you change to 275 or 285 in the rear so you can get a 30 series tire, your speedometer will be off about 2 miles per hour. I would go with the sizes above an just be careful or don't get 20" wheels. I personally think 19" is the way to go. Just my opinion.

FYI. just use the tire calculator to figure the perfect size of the tire for your size of wheel.
You can try it out on www.1010tires.com and click the "tire size calculator"
You then enter your stock size and the size you want to change. It will then compare and tell you the result.
Look at the last 2 items: Speedometer Difference and Diameter Difference.
The Diameter Difference should be within the range of 3%. Anything greater than 3% - we should avoid.
This is very useful for me and just want to share with you all...
Some people here recommended 305/25 at the rear with 255/30 at the front. Others suggested I go with 275/30 at the rear and 245/35 at the front.
In the end I bought the 305/25 and 255/30. I couldn't be happier
Firstly, the profile isn't too low. The 25 or 30 is a % of width. The 305/25 have 3" tire height vs. 4" with stock. If I went with the 275/30 I would have had an extra quarter inch - not going to make much difference. I know people with narrower rims and 25 series tires and they do have many issues. I'm sure some here have had issues with 25 series if they hit a big pot-hole, but with only 1/4" extra on the 30/s, who can say whether they would have had issues there too.
One thing to look out for is keeping the overall diameter as close to stock as possible. Check out the tire calculator at www.1010tires.com/TireSizeCalculator.asp Try to keep within 3% of stock or it can affect can not just the speedo, but some of the computers that take care of other stuff like braking - at least that's what 1010 say. If you go too wide a diameter, it can also cause rubbing!
With the tires I bought, ride is a little firmer but nowhere near as hard as my Vette. I even lowered an 1" and it's still OK.
