Your Opinion Please SL550 v. Maserati Coupe
I don't know much about Maserati's so I need your opinion and input. I am currently in a position where I could purchase a new SL550 with all the bells and whistles or a Maserati Coupe. Which would you go with? I know the quality of the MB, but not of Maserati.
Also what do you think of the Aston Martin Vantage? FYI: The budget is around $98K - $125K.

The Maserati coupe is certainly a neat car with a level of exclusitivity, not the most exciting design but nice. But the car really is dated and you can tell just by driving one. Also, quality overall is nothing to write home about. Its being redesigned very soon, in a year or so.
On the other hand, I don't think too many would argue with you getting an AM Vantage if you can swing it. A Vantage vert will be out some time in the near future.

Guys, thanks for your responses! I am going to the dealerships this weekend, to give them both test drives. When do you think the Maserati's body going to change?

Good point again beltfed, i dont want to steal your juice, but my neighbor has one and it is devoid of torque, but has a great exotic exhaust and decent horses once rpms are up. Bottom line do you want a convertible?

Well have you driven both extensively? See if you can keep the car overnight and visualize driving everyday. One last thing the interior of the maserati was not holding up real well after three years. Just a thought.

Quite frankly, I'd love to get my hands on the new 911 Targa 4s due out in Nov. Been looking at pics of it recently, and man....I've VERY tempted to trade in the Merc for one. Never driven a targa before, but I wonder if it's more than just a big "sunroof"?

Do a search on the CL board....I remember a member there picked a Maserati over the CL last year, and he had a fairly lengthy debate there. Personally, I know Maseratis are rare, etc....but when I see them, I don't really look twice. It just doesn't impress me exterior wise (with exception of Quattroport or whatever the four-door is).
