Those inner non bi-xenon headlight bulbs are KILLING me..What is the best replacement

I have a 2005 SL with no bi-xenon (giving me the yellow-ish look for the inner lights when headlights are on), so I want to match the inner parking light bulbs to the outer low-beam xenon look...the E class guys have a perfect match with the piaa 19169....would options do we have? I think we use a 2825 for our parking/city/etc. light? What is the perfect replacement bulb from PIAA to match etc. I searched but the SL owners havent spoken of this.

Thanks

I just took them out completely.. other lights would make it look like rice unless they are xenon.

see my sig below to see how it looks

After reviewing the thread where the E class owners compare their PIAA upgraded city lights....they seem to match 99%, however the cheaper brands look terrible.

So there is a PIAA that will work?

Yeah the 168 wedge model 19172 or 19169.....its a matter of color preference...either one is better than yellow. The Bi-xenon cars have the yellow bulb too, its just less noticeable. Led wont run without mods, but they are best...either way I am getting Hoem, PiAA or Silverstar soon.

Cy - previous discussions on this subject:

From experience, one cannot match the Xenon-white colour (of the main beam).

What I did, was following:

1. Changed the parking light (small 6w bulb) with Philips Blue Vision, as there is no Silver Vision (or Silver Star) for parking lights. It's blue when not lit, but less yellow when "on".

2. Changed the high beams (H7) with Osram Silver Star (equivalent to Philips Silver Vision). It gives a less yellow-ish light, but still not close to Xenon-white.

Still have to change the front fog lights with Osram Silver Star (or equivalently Philips Silver Vision).

Also, you can check out following site, where it discusses lights / relevant burning temperatures..

I went to D2 and had the parking and fogs done.....I searched the forum for 3 hours last night and found out the 19169's are not made anymore so I went with what D2 had. The Parking lights are a little bluer than the fogs (which are brighter). But the parking lights are cheaper so I can always change them. Great place to deal with.

You will not change the "high beams" (H7) in order to get a whiter front look when they are on?

well, took mine out, but hate getting that error when the lights are supposed to come on..

i read above about the 'Philips Blue Vision'. Not sure if I want blue bulbs in there... but maybe they're not too noticable...

blue bulbs.. ha ha

The combo I picked looks great. My city lights are chrome looking not blue, but look bluish when on. The fog bulbs are the ones everyone has been using for a while, and ar blue but cant really be seen.

i can't put in PIAAs or any of the bluer looking lights.. imho.. it really "rices" out the car... yes taking out the two parking lights leaves the error message.. but it looks MUCH better.. just having the two bright xenons.. with no side parking lights/fog lights.. very menacing..

those blue lights.. imho just look rice.. when you have them next to xenon projectors.. been through em all..

The one's I have don't look rice at all....I agree though, PIAA and most others do. Mine retail at $30 for a pair which is 3 times more then PIAA.

Seattle is right, it will never look like Xenon. It does however look a lot better then the yellow stocks.
