Best size Wheels for SL500
Hey guy I just bought a 03 SL500 last night and want to fit some rims on it. What would you guys recomend on size? Im thinking 19's or 20's I dont want to mess with the suspension right now and dont want the car looking like a stomper. any advice would be appreciated. Also glad to be part of this forum!

cool
I just found some 19's on ebay that look really nice but would like to go 20's if it looks better. would like to see some pics of other SL's with 20's and 19's on them to see what they look like. Is there a place here to see that without looking through each thread?

Thanks Kirby. I can tell a huge difference from the 18 to 20's and the 20's look awesome! what size tires are you running? Tire rack suggests the following:
on 19's front 255/35 back 285/30
on 20's front 245/35 back 275/30
on 19's front 255/35 back 285/30
on 20's front 245/35 back 275/30

Thanks guys
I just ordered some 19's yesterday and went with the pilot ps2's front 255/35 back 275/30. I would have went 285's but they would have taken 1 month and I wanted them now. Thanks for the pics and clk22 the wheels look great on the SL and the CLK. I figured I would start with the 19's and later I might order the 20's or 22's if I can fit them. maybe switch them around or something?

well if I can fit them then I would figure why go 20 from 19's? not much of a difference. Thinking I might switch them around like wearing different shades each week. sometimes I like my pradas and sometimes I like my armani's.

I put the same wheels as on clk22 sl, only I put 20", my car is white / stone,
and the chrome wheels look just great! If I were doing it again I would NOT
put 20's, It hurt the ride too much, and here in south fla we have the smoothest roads in the world. I took the best riding sports car in the world, and reduced the ride an unbeleivable amount. When the tire dealer delivered the car he had 40# air preasure, it was un-driveable. I now keep 34 and was told by him that I have a risk of bending the wheels at that air. Love the look, hate the ride. by the way, each time I have the car out, which is not often, at least 1 or 2 people comment that the wheels make the look of the car.

Hi Dan
Yes I have some not too good photos, have to figure out how to post photos.
Someone posted instructions on how to post photos, but they were outdated or something, the instructions did not match what was on the screen. can anyone help. By the way, I have gotten somewhat use to the ride, guess I don't remember how good the car rode with the stock rims, but it looks so great I would never take them off.

17" wheels and tires on 2004 SL500
I was looking at a 2004 SL500 that had 17" wheels and tires, all four the same size. I thought that year came with 18" staggered. Is there a problem here?
Thanks!!
Thanks!!

I have 20" on mine. They look great, the ride is not as harsh as some would make you believe (thanks to the ABC system), but like all the oversized wheels they are prone to damage if you go over some large potholes or bad pavement, etc.
