Not sure about the price...but from what i know, if you buy a car from europe, there won't be any warrantee, so I'm not sure if you'd want that. Maybe I'm wrong, hopefully, someone can correct me if I am.

List price of an SL500 in Germany is 81300 Euros, figure a little less than $80k. That's for a more basic car than in the US. You then have to ship it, pay taxes and do the work needed to allow it to meet US requirements (I assume you're talking about using it in the US). So even if the car is available for $70k, by the time you put it on your drive-way, forget it.

I know, but this guy told me to use some escrow company
called
safetradecentral

and he said that he'll bring in 2003 SL 500
for 70K and he'll register the car, ship the car
all of this within 8 days.

since he said he want to use escrow, so I assume it is preety safe.
but then when I check on the escrow company, I can't even get any phone call return.
so the suspicion is that either this guy is for real or start to do some scam in the us with fictitious escrow company.

I wouldn't do it. Importing a car in 8 days? What about all of the DOT/EPA regulations?

I've looked into this with Ferraris, and let me tell you, it takes a LONG time, even if the cars are very similar. It sounds like a complete hoax.

Just my opinion. Remember - do not put ANY money up until you are certain this is legit.

Importing is expensive, but if the cost of the SL500 is PKTCHNG then let me know..

Air cargo freight to USA: $4,000

Conversion to US Specifications: $15,000 (4 - 8 weeks)

Basically, add $20,000 to the cost of the vehicle, and you can have it in your hands..

8 days is the length of time it will take for the vehicle to arrive in the USA. That is, from he point you say "Go", until they deliver to the airport, pack it on the plane, fly the plane over to the USA , un pack, and taken to your destination city.

You cannot have the vehicle registered in the USA unless it meets USA Specifications as the car will be bonded from the time it arrives in the USA. They will not release it to you.

This is different of course if you are a resident of another country, and you are visiting. You are allowed to bring your vehicle with you, and drive it with your native tags for up to a year. Then it has to be registered (i.e., converted, and registered).
