19" and 20" Best Tire Sizes Recommendations?

19x8.5 or 19x9 Fronts?
255/35/19

19x9.5 or 19x10 Rears?
285/30/19 or 295/30/19

20x8.5 or 20x9 Fronts?
255/35/20 or 255/30/20

20x9.5 or 20x10 Rears?
285/35/20
285/30/20
295/35/20
295/30/20

These were the options I was given. I dont have much experience with 20's so I wanted to know what you all thought was the best tire combinations.

Thanks

By the way I was told that I could go 245's and 275's in the rears but wouldnt that be a very odd set up considering that factory we have 255's Fronts and 285 Rears?

A shop I was asking for pricings on wheels. They told me I had a few options and quoted me those. I just wanted to find out what people here are running since there are a few who have 19's and 20's

19 X 9 Front.... 8.5" rim is too small for a 255 even though that's what MB puts on.

If you want a 285 tire on the Rear... Get a 10"

If you want a 295 then a 10.5" is proper, and will look the best.

If you get a 20" rim, YOU CANNOT RUN A 30 OR 35 SERIES TIRE... IT WILL BE TOO TALL! It will rub, you will get suspension, and speedometer Error!

The rear tire must be a 25 series with a 20" wheel, A 30 series with a 19" wheel.

I like a 20" X 9" Front with 255 30/ZR 20's
And a 20" X 10.5" Rear with 295 25/ZR 20's

If you got 19" rims with the same Width you need 255 35/ZR 19's And 295 30/ZR 19's out back.

And get a good dealer! That guy's out to lunch!

Try adamG@euroelitesonline.com

Good Luck,

RoydRage

Yeah I was thinking of going 20x9 Fronts and 20x10 Rears so Im assuming the tire size I should go would be 255/30/20's Fronts and 285/25/20's Rears.

If I go 245 Fronts and 275 Rears will that make a big difference?

That's correct, and yes it would make a big difference... they would look too small.

Best,

I have an SL550 with stock 18" rims.
I owned 20" Lorinser LM5 and had the setup of 245/35/20 and 275/30/20 for my S class. Even with the 35 and 30 profile, it is very easy to damage the lips and have road noise.
Now, I am thinking to install these LM5 to my SL550. I have done some research and the only choice to use 20" rims is to go with 255/30/20(front) and 295/25/20(rear). This setup is in the range of the stock tires if we use the TIRE CALCULATOR for SL.
However, I'm worry about the 295/25/20. Please share your experience of using profile 25, i.e. when hitting some potholes on the road. With the profile 30 I have a very bad experience and have to fix the lips couple times. Well, to have a nice look, it must be a trade off.

Go Big

Hola' Khanhtu,
Consider 20's, I'm running 255/20 front(10" rim width) and 295/20 (12" rim width) rear, wheels by Sequence with Vredestein rubber, cause they got da good price. Fills the wheel wells just right and the ride is quite good.

Peace,
Garret
