I lowerd my SL600 for $22,-..!

Here's a tip you might find useful:
From what I understand, there's 2 ways to lower this car.

1. An electronic devise for $2000,-, where the car lowers itself.
2. The mechanical alternative, for about $450,-, where you get 4 adjustable rods to replace the original with. And there you adjust each wheel separatly.

And it's to this last alternative we have found an even cheaper way.

I bought 4 adjustable rods, ment as stabilizers for extra mounted high beam lights. For less than $6,- each...
Then you saw the stock rods in half, and drill a couple of holes, so you can fit the adjustable rods on to the stock rods.
And there you go... Money saved.

To lower the car about an inch:
Make the front rods about 10 mm longer, and the rods in the back about 10 mm shorter.
Total time for this mod, is approximatly 1,5-2 hours.

Sadly, I didn't take any pics, but it's really easy!

Congratulations on your project, but I would like to point out that the Adjustable air ride system only costs $225-$250, not $450.

I didn't know of that company. That was actually cheap.
But since I live in sweden, allmost everything is more expensive here. So I just converted our prices here into your US$...
But that should mean, that the adjustable rods I got instead, are even cheaper than $22,- in the US then...

IngenereAMG, are you? Or did you change your mind? Do the links still lower the car further even at speed? (ie past what the car normally drops to at high speed?

Go to Midwest Control supply for everything from steel to stainless Heim joints. You can fabricate stainless steel 10-32 adjustable links with simple turnbukles and use HEIM joints with male threaded ends to attach to upper and lower sensor attachment points. All in All about $75 for a fully adjustable set of (4), but with a turnbukle that can be adjusted by hand at each corner.

We do carry them, but we have started using the STAR system to lower the cars. That's how we lowered mine and it's great.
