In Lithuania we got big costs of insurance, so it is hard to have more than one car...
But while I was reading this thread I'm getting to think I need a second car for winter...
, just like gqa, so the SL only goes out when the sun is out and the roads are dry. The weather tripped me up (the whole city, really) one day last year. It was when I still owned my '06 SL500. I left the house late morning with blue skies and sunshine and I went to a mall about a half hour from home. I was only in the mall for about 30 minutes, but when I came out, it was flurrying. By the time I reached my neighborhood (I live on a hillside above the city), it was snowing so hard my SL would only go part way up the hillside. I had to park my SL on a side street about a half mile from home and I was sick over that. I paced the floor all day waiting for a snow plow truck to clear our neighborhood streets. One never came because they were all too busy clearing the downtown streets from this bad snowstorm. Finally, at 8 pm that night, I jumped in my ML and went searching for a city snow plow truck to help me. I found one about a mile from home and I asked/pleaded/begged with him (I am a woman
) to help me get my "Mercedes Roadster" home to my garage. He was happy to do it and I was happy that he was happy to do it. He cleared and salted a path from my SL all the way to my house. I followed right behind him in my SL. I gave him a $50 tip (now that I think back, it was a bargain, really. I would have paid anything.) I was so relieved to get my car home and he drove away a really happy snow plow driver with an extra $50 in his pocket. There was no way I was going to leave my SL parked on the street overnight without me keeping an eye on it. I love my SL(s) a lot (especially my new one
), but I really wasn't looking forward to sleeping in my car that night in that cold weather.
My SL never saw a muddier, filthier, wetter day in its life than that day.
