SL/R230: Black. No no no Silver. No Black. Someone please help!!!

Black. No no no Silver. No Black. Someone please help!!!
My dealer called me and they said that I have to make a final decision on the color of my SL55. Most of the AMG picks I have seen show the car in the color silver, while Brabus and Carlsson show the color in black. Black looks better with the tuners' body kits and wheels, yet I don't know if it would look good with the standard AMG body kit and the new 19" two piece 5 spoke SL wheels. Should I go with black or play it safe and pick silver?

jam - my understanding is that all of the initial R230s (SL500, SL55, or otherwise) are not 2002 MY cars, but 2003 MY cars shipping starting in Jan/Feb instead of the normal Sep/Oct.

Anyways you're correct this would be a MY03 model but it's possible his dealer is trying to get advanced specing on his car for when the actual production starts which is 03 (11 more months).

all my data says that the first SL55s will hit the US shores within the next six months latest.
it's all rumor, but i haven't once heard "no SL55s in the US until calendar year 2003".

All they are doing is scouting their list for someone who wants the same color car so they can bump them up to this guys position if he doesn't repond when the time comes to actually order the car....I will be amazed if they get any US build dates on the 55 before July or August...Anyone on this board from Europe have any build dates yet???....I don't think we will see any in US until at least 6 months after the first deliveries in Europe...MB will not have an over supply...the economy is better there right now...if they are smart they will fill demand there first and bide their time a little bit for the US econmy to get rolling again.

I put an order on both cars, thinking that I would never get the SL55 for another year or two. My salesman then called me and told me that most of the people ordered the SL500 and that I am number 2 on the list for the SL55. I then immediately cancelled my order for the CL and am now going to get an SL55. After looking at most of the pictures and getting answers from numerous boards, I am going to get the car in black
