Anyone had problems with seat backrest switches

I'm wondering if anyone has had problems with the backrest switches which allow you to move the backrest forwards. The seat controls on the door work fine but the two button on the top of the backrest no longer work.

Anyone seen this before?

... just the next in a long series of niggles in this 2003 MY car...

There is a tread on this!!!!! EASY FIX.

To clear, the backrest needs to be moved fully forward - the computer then registers that forward point and it should work after that. Failing that, the fault code on the computer may need to be cleared.

Yes, the seat buttons were behaving really weirdly, I'll give it a try. Thank you.

Thanks for the tip - worked perfectly! All I need now is someone who can weave the same magic with the tyre pressure monitoring...

I'm repeatedly getting the messages "Visit Workshop" or "Re-activate Type Pressure Monitoring" even though the pressures of the individual tyres displayed are correct, within +/- 0.2 bar which seems close enough to me.

The dealer can't figure it out, the diagnostics tell them nothing and they want to replace the control unit in the trunk and each of the tyre valves at a cost much more than the option cost to start with!

Yes, you'd think they would replace the tyre pressure display with "??" for the affected wheel, it's a real pain to have to take off the tyre to try replacing the sensor. It looks like the diagnostics for this thing are pathetic - "There's something wrong, but I'm not telling you what it is!"

Sorry, you've tripped over what passes for a British sense of humour. The double quotes were intended to mimick the "attitude" of the type pressure monitoring control unit or - more precisely - that of the idiot who wrote the software. It knows something's wrong but all it does is to put out a message without telling us what the detail is.

If I knew, I'd be more than happy to tell everyone. As it is, the MB dealer doesn't know, only the crappy diagnostics and they're not saying...
