What's the best MPG you've gotten?

I remember seeing a thread a long time ago where someone (Max?) mentioned that he was looking forward to telling his friends that he got better mileage than their Taurus. On some of my drives I've been pretty impressed with the mileage I've gotten -- 29.9MPG over 40 miles from Los Angeles into Orange County, and over 25 on a tank when driving from S.F. to L.A. -- and wonder if anyone has clocked some high numbers on their day-to-day drive? It'd be nice to tell the green crowd that we do better than the beater they have parked next to their Prius.

Running around town, regular mix of driving, I get about 20mpg average per tank. On my road trip from Vegas to Seattle, I averaged almost 27mpg over the 1200 mile trip.

I drove mine up I-5 to Eugene OR in December. About 500 miles both ways. I was able to get around 27-28 mpg. I felt that was very decent.

I just drove from Boston, MA, to Atlanta, GA. Trip: 1187 miles. Speed: 70 - 80 MPH. Gas: 26.7 MPG. The way back, same speed, same distance, but 27.8 MPG.

I got just over 24 mpg on my sl55 on a 200 mile trip once...kept my foot out of it; but found out that it can get pretty good mpg for a v8k but ussually it's hard to keep from romping the throttle

No, that sounds about right -- going 15-16mph is not going to be pretty. But yeah, I probably average 20-22mpg on a normal tank of gas. 29 was pretty remarkable.
