Fair Market Value

What would be a fair market value price for my 2006 SL600 in todays WORLD.

I looked at various sites, ebay motor, vehix.com, kelly blue book, etc.....

What would my fellow SL owners give me a as value???

25,000 miles.... As good AS NEW CONDITION, even smells new on the inside...

I'd probably look at various sites: ebay motor, vehix.com, kelly blue book, etc.....

Sorry, but that's a pretty hard call. I'd be looking at the exact same sites as you to get an idea of what would be appropriate. You might want to look at the used car lists on kbb.com, as they have a pretty wide selection and range. You can probably make a good stab from there. Just keep in mind that a lot of people are probably holding out for more than is reasonable. See if you can look at listings in the order in which they've been updated, to see if you can find any price changes. I'd expect that the newer listings would reflect the economy better.

Probably not what you want to hear. But realistically somewhere between $50-65k but most likely about $55,000.

Mercedes depreciate like a rock.

Fair Market Value

With the enconomy being bad, you might be in luck. I got a 2006 SL500, after all was said and done, 13-months remaining on factory warranty, $48,000, and the dealer paid by Lexus off. I owed on the Lexus 27,000 but blue book llisted it for 20,000.

I then purchase Mecury extended warranty insurance from my credit union for 2900-dollars. I then brought electronics insurance (radio, etc...) for 250-dollars. To replace the radio on the Sl500 can cost between 6000 and 10,000 dollars. When they say bumper to bumper, read it carefully, it is not so, unless you buy a certified Mercedes Benz, but that why you pay 10,000 to 15,000 dollars extra.

If you do buy the SL500 I would make sure you have at lerast 1-year left on the factory warranty. Drive it everything to find out what is wrong with it, and get it fixed for free.

Good luck.

KBB is way off. Their prices are high vs the real world

Not the same car, but I got a 2007 SL550 with pano and premium, with 3500 miles, for $66K from the dealer. And I suck at bargaining. Given that, I'd think the might be even lower.

I was talking about their used car listings from autotrader.com, not what they say the value is.

Unfortunaley the realistic price in these times is far less than some of these posted replies. I am looking for a sl600 2006 and have found 2 with around 30k on Cars.com. One can be had for around for under 40k.

I do agree with the previous post about warranty and being certified. This is important in that the electronics seem to be hit or miss on these cars.

Well...

Well I am not selling it, the ebay auctions were all around $45,000, well below my reserve to just make sure I didn't sell, had a few offers, the latest ones be $49,500 and $51,000. I passed on each of them. I was amazed why would people on ebay want mine when there were some same year and model with a buy it now price below what my auction price was already at.

sl values

Hi Stephen:

I know those ebay auctions you speak of. I agree with those numbers you mentioned also. I think the difference may be those cars are many times offered by dealers. Some but not all are certified as we discussed. Which does add value in my opinion.

The specific ads I see on cars.com seem to be private sellers. I've also noticed in my searching that the lower prices are coming from badly hit areas of the country like Southern California and South Florida. I would think that the Real Estate crash may be playing a part in these bargain prices.

In any case.. I think it's a great car (why I'm searching for one) and hope to buy one soon. If you're interested in the links for any of the vehicles I see please private message me and I will forward them to you for your review.

I would also love to hear of any problems you've had with yours and what I can expect...I had three E class cars between 2000 and 2006. The 2003 was a nightmare with the electrical problems. I know the SL has a similiar module so I worry a bit about that.

Well, according to KBB, my 2005 SL600 with 7,100 miles is worth less than $39K in trade and less than $40K as a private party sale.

"Depreciates like a rock on Jupiter" is a more apt description I think.

6 months ago I purchased my **mint** 2005 SL600 w/12,500 miles for $45,500.00

So, the 40K private party price is probably pretty accurate.

Yea, I got 'd...I paid way more about four months ago. So I take solace in the fact that I least I wasn't the guy that dropped $100K+ on it back in 2005.

It is way better to be the second owner. I have an 04 SL600 with 38k miles sport package parking sensors and keyless go, and I would sell it for 37-39K but a dealer would probably say 33k if I traded it.

They do depreciate, but really how much lower can they go? Ultimately they are the same price as a fully loaded honda accord...and which one would you rather have?
